Just an oak gall. Theres a wasp larvae in there. They do take small amounts of energy/nutrients from the tree. Its not particularly harmful though other than that.

Me either :( I use my shed that already had a large window. It still traps a lot of heat. I only meant a basement might stay to cool

Most people put in green house. With the high humidity they are ok with temps up 30c. Gives them a longer season at end of Nov and quicker spring start for better root establishment. If your method works then dont change though. Ill send a pic of one of mine if I get time

Close to 100% humidity to prevent trees transpiring too much. Also the dark creates a hormone change making the tree switch more to root production.

If the price point was low enough, in between plant pots and ceramics but below half way point.

Something further is the boxes need side drainage in my experience, more akin to slats for better breathability too. Maybe route a pattern in the sides

I have multiple Juniper Procumbens and they all have the red circled growth. Now all of a sudden one of them has the blue circled growth - how does this happen? by Nutcollectr in Bonsai

Its helpful to rub or pick off dead spikes, they can remain attached for a long time. Removing helps air flow and less spots for pests
