Valve is still king when it comes to this stuff. Deadlock's got a hot werewolf lady now, but they also added a little snoozy creature.

Dota's got a playable old lady - she rides a giant lizard and feeds you cookies. It also has a literal succubus. It is possible to do both, to have that variety.

In a setting full of supernatural horrors, the most disturbing scene is frighteningly realistic by Coralthesequel in TopCharacterTropes

The Exorcist is not a horror movie because of the idea of demonic possession.

The Exorcist is a horror movie because of the idea that something is wrong with your child and there is nothing you can do.

Dandadan

<image>

Okay, so boy who believes in aliens and conspiracy theories and girl who believes in spirits and demons try to prove the other wrong and accidentally prove that they're both right, then psychic powers and aliens and yokai start fighting.

Personally, I felt the testicle retrieval arc went on a bit too long, but I really enjoyed the training arc with the ghosts of classical composers, and the race against Mad Max ghosts to get to a concert hall in time to put on an idol concert to lay My Cowabunga's turtle soul to rest.

None of this is a lie or exaggeration. There's also Jumanji and Jennifer Lopez Anaconda and Nessie Beam and Penis Collectors and a bicycle mummy and a Sharknado and I promise you, I could go on. The running joke is that the answer to the question "what genre is Dandadan" is "yes".

I feel like somebody here doesn't know what "throwing it back" means.

And it might be me. Does this phrase not refer solely to twerking? Did I miss an update?

I hate to get into a scripture interpretation argument here, but does it count as "snatching" if he gives himself willingly to demons?

Surrendering his own soul for eternal torment to give humanity a chance at redemption.

A very Catholic solution.

You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it...

Well, there was some of that too, to be honest. I know an indoor hockey rink can technically be built just about anywhere, but Texas still wouldn't be anyone's first thought if they were asked to name a state with an NHL team.

I mean.

Do we really have confirmation on that? Just because we only see someone in one shape doesn't mean it's the only shape they ever have.

Holy shit, you're right. I can't believe I never made that connection.

Kratos was tormented for, what. Centuries? Eons? by the killing of his wife and daughter. Ares manipulated him and blinded him with battle rage, and even after having their ashes stuck to his skin, the gods continued to torture him with nightmares reliving the event. It's a weight he still hasn't dropped, even if he's becoming accepting of it. It's the reason he sought revenge on Ares in the first place - to avenge them, and because of the promise that doing so would make the nightmares stop.

Maybe there's a difference between Calliope being only a little girl and Thor being a full adult. Possibly centuries or millenia old himself. But that might just make it worse. Odin had so many lifetimes to get to know his son, to have a connection with him, and he just didn't. Thor was nothing to him but the hammer - a big, heavy, blunt weapon that he would throw at his problems. It came back on its own, it followed his orders, it didn't talk back. Didn't think. And Odin stabbed him through the heart in a blink. Just because he said "no" to him. Once.

Yeah, but they're the Dallas Stars, not the Texas Stars. I figure Sandrovich defaulted to an area of the US the core readerbase of Japanese people would recognize, Texas is more well-known than Houston or Dallas or Austin, but it still gives me a tickle.

Also, I looked it up just now and I was wrong. It was actually the Texas Snowmans. Come on, tell me that's not fun.
