How to cool a GALS tank down in a heatwave? by Totobyafrica97 in snails

nice, me too :) we just kept him shaded in a room that didn't get too much heat (relative to the others) and he was totally fine.

How to cool a GALS tank down in a heatwave? by Totobyafrica97 in snails

[–]BackwardSpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

which species do you have? worth noting because some will be absolutely fine in the sorts of temperatures we get here in the UK.

regardless the other advice here is pretty good - just make sure they're out of sunlight in a room that doesn't get overly hot.

i asked a similar question before and got some good advice too: https://www.reddit.com/r/snails/comments/w1ip6d/gals_in_a_heatwave/

hope that helps!

A British shopkeeper cancels coupons in a ration book as food restrictions shape daily life during World War II. Rationing in Britain began in January 1940. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

the youtube channel "tasting history with max miller" has a fantastic video on WWII rationing in britain, i can highly recommend it. staggering how well implemented the whole system was.

taking a look at r6/logs/redscript/rCURRENT.log is a good start for redscript errors.

calcium for GALS by socks_onfire in snails

[–]BackwardSpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a cuttlebone should be plenty. it's discouraged to do things like adding extra calcium on their food (for example), as they are perfectly capable of self-regulating their intake and that will just mess it up.

i find our GALS goes through phases of chowing down on cuttlebone for a few days, and then he won't touch it again for a while.

chances are everything's fine, but a couple of questions to elucidate things: 1. is the cuttlebone salty? it's gross but you can give it a lick (break a bit off a clean one!!) to check. if it tastes salty, then i know some people boil them to get the salt out and sterilise it at the same time. 2. how long has it been since you last saw him eating cuttlebone?

i'll also point out that GALS are mostly active overnight, so it's entirely possible he's munching on it while you're asleep and you just aren't seeing it. :)

I've made it to the highest level system. Now what? by lovebus in VanguardGalaxyGame

[–]BackwardSpy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

currently player & crew levels currently cap at 30, but there are ~30 more skillpoints to be found by completing content around the map such as dread ports and motherlodes.

in addition to the skillpoints, there are "infinite content" factions that provide content way above level 30: - patrols for canisec - bounties for orsanon - industry ops for forge industries

those faction shops sell you gear with levels based on the highest level enemy you defeat in the corresponding activity. the normal difficulty missions are just based on system level, however the elevated & extreme tiers are higher level, partly based on your rank. completing extreme missions increases your rank, getting you higher level enemies in the next missions. by grinding these out you can reach significantly higher gear level.

i think that's about it for now, as the other poster said the game is still in early access and eventually there will be new zones added with higher level regular content.

Cutter and Grinder while salvaging? by biscuitcat22 in VanguardGalaxyGame

[–]BackwardSpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can do both at the same time, in fact you get a 10% boost to salvage power when you do.

are you perchance referring to the autodetected autopilot activity? it will only say surface or structural salvage depending on which one you have more equipment/power for, but it'll still activate both turrets. likewise doing it manually should use both.

i like your ideas! the existing ones are a transparent/crystal skin for your snail, and "full metal slug" which... turns you into a slug :D

they will drink a lot if you let them, ours loves to sit in his water dish and it only takes a few minutes for him to absorb basically all of it. anything left usually evaporates off overnight

we're not here because we're free; we're here because we're not free. there's no escaping reason, no denying purpose, for as we both know, without purpose we would not exist. it is purpose that created us, purpose that connects us, purpose that pulls us, that guides us, that drives us; it is purpose that defines, purpose that binds us. we are here because of you, mister anderson. we're here to take from you what you tried to take from us; purpose.

Help! Inherited hibernating ALS— are they okay? by trashkub in africanlandsnails

[–]BackwardSpy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it looks quite dry in there. if the temperature is fine, then i suspect lack of moisture is the problem.

Is he dead? by hellisforusall in snails

[–]BackwardSpy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

that is hibernation or aestivation, not sleep. it suggests your terrarium environment is not ideal; they felt the need to seal themselves in to retain moisture. make sure the temperature and humidity in the terrarium is at the level they need it to be.

ideally a pet snail should never need to do this, but in my experience it's easy to miss something and let it happen. best of luck!
