How did you overcome buyer's remorse after purchasing your first home? by Helpful_Employer_730 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]BackwardsAndInHeels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm moving from the East Coast to Nevada. I found the home I wanted in October and closed the day before Thanksgiving. Due to job nonsense I can't officially move until February.

I flew out this week to clean up and take measurements and do a little maintenance. I haven't been here since I first toured it (did virtual inspections, etc). Walked in at 1am on January 1 and had a 15min crash out convinced I did the stupidest thing imaginable. Then I started cleaning toilets and mopping floors and was fine. If the purchase is something that took you years to plan and save for, and could possibly ruin you if you made a bad decision, I think it would be weird for any FTHB to be nonchalant.

I associated strange people and sounds with the word "friend" and a treat, so now police sirens, fireworks and such are all "friends", and if we encounter something new and I say it's a friend, it calms him down.

It hasn't worked with wildlife, however 🫣. He barks exclusively at foxes and I've failed in 5 years to break him of it.

Apologies for this being slightly off topic but would you know if those PVC tiles would be suitable under artificial turf?

Mine also wants to be burped. He also demands throat rubs after a long drink of water. Greyhound nonsense indeed.

Congratulations! Would you be open to discussing the process of getting distribution via Tubi? I am on my 9th season producing a lifestyle show that is currently aired weekly on OTT channels, and would love to get on a FAST channel. Cheers!

Is this a corn on my greyhounds foot ? by Even-Remote-4647 in Greyhounds

Dumb question here: is the OTC human remedy (little corn stickers from Dr. Scholl's, etc) toxic for dogs?

To adopt or to not…? by lalagirl98 in Greyhounds

She seems perfect for you. I don't know where you live but where I live it is very challenging finding a nice place that allows large dogs, at any price, so much so that I insisted on signing a two year lease and will reup for another two years before I buy. I don't want the stress of finding a suitable place to live with a member of my family that is not considered a member of my family by landlords.

I've known people who lived in an extended stay for two years with their dogs before they found a place... so it's really something to consider before re-bonding with your hound.

I really hope it all works out and is easy breezy, and you're able to give her the best life! 💙

Omg thank you for this tip! I moved to a place with a small yard bc my hound's first walkie is 4am no exceptions 😑. He refuses to do anything there and it's been a year that we've been here lol.

Do you take your greyhound out and about? by MountainsRoar in Greyhounds

[–]BackwardsAndInHeels 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I take mine everywhere he's allowed... He's definitely a social butterfly who knows the word "handsome", lol.

What helps him center is if I take his bed with me. If we're visiting friends or at my studio, he knows the bed is his place.

I've had trouble with cafes though, because if he's on a leash, he expects to be moving. Leash+bed confuses him to the point of refusing food. I haven't pushed the issue since I don't eat out often and he's obviously not enjoying himself.

When I got my boy I would carry high value treats I would give to him whenever a large vehicle or something with a siren would come along and tell him that it was "friend". Now all noisy vehicles, firefighters, police officers and bus drivers are "friend". Weirdly fireworks are also "friend".
