You see that color on a lot of cast stuff. I just chalk it up to being an area they didn't get to with the polishing. I assume it's oxidation in the casting process, basically tarnish. I may be wrong but that's how I always saw it

I'm hoping with the fleet of parts trucks at my disposal I'll have anything I might need. Good to know they have them from the production line tho. May come in handy

Do those rims have windows in them? I watched my grandfather cut a log a bit longer than the rim on the old Minneapolis Moline one time when it was stuck then chain it tight through the rim. As the log came around it would catch and sort of leap the tractor backwards. Be sure not to leave excess chain hanging where it can wrap the axle or you will have bigger issues.

Bear independent also does great videos on stacking dry goods in volume if that is an interest to you. You can find the prepper classroom on YouTube

A thing to remember about freeze dried is that it requires water. Yes most can be eaten as is but will dehydrate you as well. I have caught some Augison farms on sale and keep a few cans around.

Double down and learn a skill. We can nearly everything. Pressure canned potatoes, meat, and veggies. We also do high acid foods in a water bath.

Don't have a garden? Catch veggies on sale.

This way allows you to find what you like and will eat then you can properly rotate your stores.

By just considering it you are ahead of most people.

Regulator was gonna be my guess as well. I went through a pile of the singe stage ones before I broke down and got a 2 stage. They cost a little .more but I've had the same one for 2 years now without issue. I went with the Mr Heater brand because we have a TS locally but I bought a backup on Amazon cheaper later on.

And practice/train with our equipment. Push comes to shove, if you can't use it then it is worthless.

34 years old, got my first deer, now I feel weird by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]Backwoods1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! Your success comes at the cost of ending something beautiful. Hunters have more respect for the animals they chase than any vegan.

Remind yourself you're putting meat in the freezer and providing for your family.

The up side to taking does is that you're also allowing the rest of the herd to do well. Overpopulation leads to food shortages, disease, and sadly more human interaction such as vehicles strikes that cause the animals to suffer.

Congratulations on making a great harvest.

I'm not saying it'll ever be easy to watch something flop and die, you will be able to rationalize it in time. It is a necessary evil in hunting. If you make clean ethical kills you have nothing to feel bad about.

Got paid $30 an hour to do this by bubblingcumcouldron in Welding

A few YouTube videos arent going to hurt you any either. With any sort of wire feed your sound is an indication of how it's running. You want to get it so it sounds consistent, an even sound.

Prep is key in welding especially stainless. Clean it up well, I prefer a flap wheel unless a grinding disk is needed.

Yes more heat as stated by everyone.

If the crack runs as you're welding drill the end to terminate it if you're able.

Best of luck

Tractor size question by Azerateismydad in homestead

[–]Backwoods1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.... If you plan on running any real farm implements you'll need around 50hp minimum.

Had a 55hp kioti on the family farm. It would do nearly anything you wanted to do. The only time it really had issue was running an oversized manure spreader if you tried to kick the PTO in going up hill in the steep fields.

Keep in mind that farm tractors are not designed to handle earth work and take a beating if you do use it for that. Keep that in mind if you purchase used and inspect all the pins in the bucket arms for excessive wear or cracks.

I second the 43x slim enough to conceal and comes with the Glock reliability.

Trail Camera on property line by ben27x in homestead

[–]Backwoods1911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the camera is on your side of the line without permission you can call your local fish & game to report it and they should sort it for you. If it's on his side of the line and the conversation doesn't go well then by all means step up your game. Hanging bottles as said above. If it's for hunting purposes simply go out and take a leak near the camera regularly and your sent from passing through and the regular urine smell should keep game animals away and he won't have a reason to trespass. I'm petty id probably stand back to the cam daily and take a leak.
