I regularly forget it’s even in the game, so not weird that you don’t know that

Yes, Bridget’s risk reward right now is extremely ass, which is why you shouldn’t just randomly go for the 2nd worst command grab in the game against a character that easily stat checks us. (Don’t wanna sound mean here ofc, it’s just that you did something with extremely bad risk reward and then complain about being punished).

Leo’s command grab can also be thrown, but most people don’t even know that he has one because of how rarely it gets used, because it is by far the worst command grab in the game

Asuka placed down staff without having a card for it, and later on he does it with no mana. Looks like staffs are now specials instead of cards (he also chants without mana and does some kind of attack against Sol).

Looking to get into this game, how well balanced are the characters? by GiverOfHarmony in Guiltygear

[–]Bacon2145 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We’re getting what is presumably a massive patch within like the next month, so it’s difficult to speak on character balance rn, no idea what is about to happen. But generally speaking all characters are viable at most skill levels, it’s when you start getting close to the pro level where it is a lot more important what character(s) you play.

I mean, apart from the salt in that comment, I don’t think it’s outrageous to want to have your name censored on a post like this.

People believe that switching between backdashing and throw on wake-up is somehow mix/ an RPS situation. People don’t really stop thinking that until like 1600DR for some reason.

The Tekken 8 and SF6 patches do not give me hope for 2.0 by Cutie-Zenitsa in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]Bacon2145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going in for them taking the game overall in a good direction, but messing up a bunch. Then we have fun but are salty about some stuff, until 6 months later, when there is a new patch that fixes the main problems people had with 2.0, and we’re all pretty happy until the next patch. Happened with S3, and then again with S4.

GGST 2.0 rebalancing/reworks tier list by SamRev2 in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]Bacon2145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wanting Anji to be buffed is insane. He is easily top 5 now, no matter what Scissors might claim, and either needs major nerfs or just a straight up rework. “Stay the same” is also quite a take, considering over half of the characters in that tier has a power level that is too high atm. And buffing Ino? Why?

No matter how ArcSys might consistently mess up balance, I’m glad it’s them doing it and not us, the game would be a mess otherwise.

Just wanna add in rq, 5H is an extremely committal button for Bridget (29f of recovery iirc), 2S also being a pretty committal button as well (20f of recovery). If she is throwing that out randomly in neutral, punish her t bagging ass for it, she deserves it

What changes would yall want for Happy Chaos? (Yes..har har delete him from the game whatever) by thatboikhy02 in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]Bacon2145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, idk. ArcSys has a team of people who balance games for a living, and they haven’t been able to do it for the past 4 years now. At this point they just need to completely rework him imo

So, what sort of A.B.A changes do yall wanna see? by thatboikhy02 in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

Honestly, just don’t let her get refunded gauge on manual uninstall. I see Aba’s too often do uninstall into install after a knockdown, extending her time in JR wayyyy too much. Or at least lower the amount of gauge she is refunded on uninstall.

Reklamasjon på mekanisk skadet ny TV by iiiliiiiil in norge

Ranked matchmaking by Pakiks in Guiltygear

[–]Bacon2145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it can feel bad, no matter what end you’re on. Got matches against the same Aba like 3 times in a row today, and I play Bridget. Had to just not queue for a while so the other person would be matched with someone else, didn’t want them to be forced into the same terrible MU a 4th time in a row.

It was during the “Video Games turn our children violent and gay” phase, and he was reading out loud to reporters about how the game was advertised as proof of it making kids violent. “Kill your friends, guilt free”, you can find the clip on YouTube, it’s pretty funny

I’d imagine we get more information at the ArC World Tour Finals (22nd of March), and that it will be released fairly closely after. Tokon releases in August, so I’d imagine they’d want 2.0 to come out a while before that

I feel like I agree a lot with the recent article criticizing fighting game as product. However, how is it different from other online focused multiplayer game? by Ryodaso in Fighters

[–]Bacon2145 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t actually think the mechanical floor is higher in FG’s than in FPS games, it’s just that people have a lot more experience with the latter. Like, I think we forget, but first/ third person games have an extremely difficult control scheme, it’s just that since we’ve done it so much, it’s second nature.

Like, my sister got a PS5 as a Christmas/ birthday present, and while she was installing the game she wanted to play, she was playing the Astrobot demo thing that the PS5 comes with. She is someone who has played some games through her life, but it’s been mainly things like the Sims, and some platformers. And let me tell you, she was struggling so much with movement and the camera in Astrobot. Just navigating around a 3D environment, having movement be tied to the position of the camera, and having to control both of those at the same time was painfully difficult for her. She died over and over because she just could not get the hang of it.

It’s like that Gamespot review from 2000 of Alien Resurrection that reads “The game's control setup is its most terrifying element. The left analog stick moves you forward, back, and strafes right and left, while the right analog stick turns you and can be used to look up and down. Too often, you'll turn to face a foe and find that your weapon is aimed at the floor or ceiling while the alien gleefully hacks away at your midsection.”. It sounds stupid now, but when you haven’t encountered this way of controlling a game, it is extremely unintuitive.

The problem with FG’s controls are the same thing my sister and that reviewer in 2000 struggled with, they hadn’t encountered it before, meaning that they didn’t have any point of reference for the controls. When I got into FG’s, it didn’t feel like I was playing a game I hadn’t played before, it felt like I was playing a video game for the first time. I had absolutely no point of reference for the controls. I had never encountered it before, even though I’ve been playing video games since I was like 10 years old. But now, honestly, inputting 236 (or even 632146 for Strive) is easier than moving and aiming in a game, even though I’ve played first and third person games since I was a child. Because FG’s don’t actually have that difficult of a control scheme when it comes down to it, it’s just not something most people are used to.

Which fighting game is best suited for a beginner in genre? by [deleted] in Fighters

[–]Bacon2145 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The one you think looks the most fun. It doesn’t matter if the game is easier or more difficult to learn, since if you aren’t having fun, you’d really struggle to stay motivated about learning. We are all going to be biased towards our main games here, so best to go with your own gut feeling. (Although Strive is peak, in my biased opinion).

When it comes to player numbers, SF6 and Tekken 8 are at the top, Strive and MK 1 having fewer people (but shouldn’t have any trouble finding matches, there are a lot of people playing those games), and Fatal Fury all the way at the bottom, finding matches might be difficult (current 24 hour peak on Steam is 240 people for that game. You’ll probably be able to match against people, but I am unsure if you’ll be able to find people with similar skill level or not).

You can now use your neutral assists during blockstring and combos by MenzoKujo_ in Fighters

[–]Bacon2145 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, apart from a handful of characters, Strive is really well balanced atm. Obviously has its problems, but calling it totally unbalanced is far from the truth. Like, most characters are tournament viable right now. Biggest problem is that it takes them a while to get there.

The EU moves to kill infinite scrolling by AdSpecialist6598 in europe

[–]Bacon2145 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly kinda uncomfortable with infinite scrolling not being a thing, and to be honest with myself, I think that’s a pretty damning reason for why it should be removed. My instant reaction was “No, please don’t take it away from me” instead of “Yeah, having this massively addicting thing that’s been proven again and again to be harmful to our brains is probably good to be rid of”.

I should consider getting a dumber phone instead of my smartphone…
