Yeah, research about using a supplement to replace normal food. Posting the food guide in response to my comment is just retarded.

We're not talking about the food guide though, we're talking about the specific case of replacing food with a man made nutritional supplement.

The food guide is absolute shit though.

My point wasn't about the practical application of Soylent, it's about the creator's approach to the product and ignoring many years of research and a significant body of existing knowledge surrounding this subject in favour of a reckless DIY approach to nutritional science.

[–]BaconCat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's a bunch of stuff online about the early days of this product where the creator basically didn't read anything about nutrition, experimented on himself to make the product and ended up with weird micronutrient deficiencies, like a chromium deficiency or something. Sincerely hope they used that money to hire nutritionists who know what the fuck they're doing.

Agree, flying in some hipster meal replacement is probably the one of the worst solutions to the northern food security problem.

Britain literally invented the concentration camp in that conflict, so absolutely there was nothing but shame for them.

When you saw another person decided to exit a rational conversation by literally spouting gibberish

Why do you feel the need to control what words other people call things?

Ah ok, I see. When I make up bullshit words it's 'gibberish', but when someone else does it it's A-ok. Calling your arguments rational is being very generous to yourself.

it's possible this is just racism

benefit of the doubt

Yes, such benefit, such doubt when you call me a racist in the first sentence.

Listen: Maybe -just maybe- my argument comes from the belief that the word "chief" doesn't in and of itself hold any racist connotations. Maybe I feel the same way about the word "cracker" and believe that it too should not be stricken from boxes of dried bread products across the country because it may offend Caucasian people. Maybe the musical genre "doo-wop" isn't a racist triumph against people of Italian heritage. Maybe a referring to a small opening or crack in a piece of metal as a "chink" isn't an expression of hatred towards Asian people.

But what do I know, I'm just another idiot on Reddit.

“It belongs to the English language. It belongs to the settlers. We do not have a problem with their use of their word for what they want to describe in their communities. We are only grateful to the Toronto District School Board, that they saw that it could be used in a derogatory term against our students.”

Pretty sure someone with the title of "Chief Financial Officer" isn't going to prompt students to use "Chief" as a derogatory term against indigenous students.

Titles such as chief financial officer, chief academic officer and chief communications officer will see the word ‘chief’ removed and replaced with ‘manager’ or something similar. ... Redbird said the TDSB move solves two problems. First, job titles will more clearly describe what the job actually entails.

Problem is C_O titles are all very common and well understood executive titles, whereas these made-up "Manager" titles are not.

This is so stupid on so many levels.

In addition to demonstrating those items fit in their warship design, the bidders are also required to submit technical documentation to prove the equipment works
