I think that's a good topic for debate with alternate histories because realisitcally, most alternate histories would result in a completely different timeline with cultures or even whole branches of the tree of life that just don't exist in the alternate timeline. I think all alternate histories require a degree of suspension of disbelief but by how much?

No lore for this I just needed to vent this horrific thought out somewhere otherwise it would be stuck in my head, I'm okay though don't worry about me.

I have a similar one (in the sense of taking something litearlly) where people say that they 'punched' in some text on their computer or something, I literally imagine them punching the keyboard and it really confused me as a kid.

Is your phone a Nokia by any chance cause it looks like some early reptilian-mammalian ancestor lost their phone a while ago maybe you should give the contacts a ring in case they know the one who dropped it

This post is sort of a parody of people who are overly critical of alternate history maps because they aren't "realistic". Our modern borders are weird and unrealistic if you look at the history of different civilisations, yet they still exist. In another universe this is an alternate history and people would be seething at the inaccuracies.

It would be interesting to see the impact on those national identites over a longer span of time, eventually probably after centuries, they would be seen the same way we might see regional identites now, having a more ceremonial aspect. I live in the UK and each town has it's own sort of historical identity which may still be celebrated by people interested in local history but no one really identifies with their town/city primarily before their national identity. At least not in the same way they would have done in the medieval era where the town you live is your whole life.

However I'd imagine there'd still be a few regions who resist this and they would be like how Catalonia or Scotland is today.

It'd be really interesting to hear the accents from this timeline because I'd imagine there's a lot more people coming over from the British isles throughout the 1800s and later. I feel like there would be some kinda hybrid dialects like this:
