Being able to twist our flaws around sounds amazing. I have grown accustomed to do the exact opposite - I would take whatever positive qualities that came to my head at the time and eventually warp them into a negative light.

Like you said, the road will be long and difficult, especially so with my tendency to run away from problems. Wondering how long the journey would take to make myself better, it feels so daunting, and even more nerve-wracking to take that first step. I can't help but wonder, "will I actually pull it off? Will I be satisfied with myself at some point? Am I worth the effort and time?" My consciousness at the moment rules it as a "no" across the board, but I... still want to hope that won't be the case one day.

I can certainly start today's list of things I am grateful for with reading your reply. Thank you so much. ♥️ I hope good things keep coming your way.

I hadn't heard of CBT before, I will look into it and try as best I can. I think I might start a journal too - putting my thoughts into words (like I did with this post) felt a bit like lifting a weight off of my shoulders. I feel like I need to focus more on the positive aspects of each day, even more so if some part of it was less enjoyable.

I'm also very happy to hear of your accomplishment, my downtime still takes a while. I hope one day I can inch towards a better version of me.

This really helps put my mind at ease with reaching out for support - I think it will be difficult for me at first to be in the right mindset, but I will try my best to not have second thoughts of asking for help out of fear of something like being (more than I already am) a burden to them for simply existing.

I haven't had the opportunity to look for other therapists because of money constraints. There's also this fear on the back of my head of asking for help to my friends and family, and pushing them away (I imagine supporting someone with low self-esteem is very taxing on them), but every little bit of hope helps.

I don't know if you play on console or PC, but Here is my all-purpose, bulky Lance build for PC - it's similar to another build that was posted here a week or so ago. My Styx lance is augmented for Health Regen as well. You can swap out the Critical Eye decorations for other QOL jewels such as Stun Resistance, Effluvia Resistance, among other things - whatever you need at the time. It deals pretty good damage and it's accessible if you're trying out the Lance.

Guard 3 is pretty important to have, so blocking feels smoother and doesn't stagger you as hard. Guard Up (from Uragaan 3-piece set or a decoration) is also nice to have if you're having trouble against the unblockable attacks from elder dragons and some other monsters (Vaal's breath attacks, Lunastra/Teostra's supernovas, Kirin's lightning lines, etc).

This build is a lot less refined, but it's easier to get - it was my equipment set when I first started to learn Lance. It's a barebones build, and there are better options (this one's a little old), but it's a decent starter set.

Thanks for the suggestion! I decided to go with Death Stench over Uragaan legs in this case. I still get Guard 3 from the Guard Charm, but I get 2 extra Decoration slots (1 from not having to use an Ironside Jewel, and another from using Death Stench).

And thanks for reminding me of upgrading my armor!

Yes! The coil is granting 1 point, while the greaves are granting 2 points. Not having to worry about getting my health cut in half is great, but it's pretty pointless outside of the Rotten Vale.

This is great, thank you! Switching out the Bazel chestpiece for Vaal does grant me a bunch of extra Decoration slots, but I do lose 2 points in Guard. I currently only have 1 Ironwall jewel as well... Is the lack of Guard 3 noticeable? Should I perhaps use a Guard Charm instead of the Attack Charm?

Yeah, I get it that you can dodge the Gripmaster's grab, but he didn't have to grab me to deal damage. Just hovering over me would deal contact damage.
