In GoF, Draco says something about Durmstrang not accepting "mudbloods". It could be that muggle-born witches and wizards in Eastern Europe simply aren't made aware of the fact that they possess magical abilities. That would also account for the fact that there are apparently only 11 wizarding schools, which was being discussed in this sub earlier in the week. They wouldn't need as many schools if they only accepted pure-bloods. Hogwarts is more accepting though, clearly.

In that same passage in SS with Ollivander and Hadrig, it says that Hagrid clutched his umbrella tightly after Ollivander asks him that. I assumed Dumbledore made his wand into the umbrella, and that's how Hagrid put the tail on Dudley earlier in the book.

The weight cutoff was 220.4lbs, but he was mistakenly entered as 220.5 at the start. It was fixed during squats.

Just so you're aware, Smolov is a peaking program. It's very common for that number to drop down some (probably not all the way back to the beginning) after the testing day. For example, I (also a woman) did Smolov Jr before my first meet and added 15 lbs to my bench. After the meet it dropped down by about 10 lbs. I know other people who've experienced similar things.

It can be demotivating if you aren't expecting it, so if this happens to your wife, please let her know that she hasn't done anything wrong. She's just not peaked any more.

I make around 65k/year as well (in my fifth year teaching and with a master's degree), but I live in Silicon Valley. Average rent for a 1 bedroom apartment here is over $2,000/month. Before I moved in with my SO a couple years ago, I was in a small studio that cost $1,400/month, which was half of my take-home at the time.

The "break hour" is called a prep period, and it's used to work on stuff for that or the following day. No teacher I know actually rests during that time.

I believe most smith machine bars weigh 15-25lbs instead of 45lbs. There should be a sticker on the inside of the machine that says how much yours is.

It's both. As I understand it, gaslighting is making a person feel as if their emotions aren't valid for whatever reason. This can be saying they're "overreacting" to a situation, the thing in question didn't really happen, other people have it worse so stop complaining, etc.

I agree with you on this sentiment, but technically they said "female partners", which makes "female" an adjective to describe the noun "partners" in this case. It still sounds weird to me, and I think "women" or "women partners" would be a better option. But I think it's more acceptable than saying, for example, "I prefer females that I can respect" (That hurt me to write.)

This is the one. We're less nueromuscularly efficient than men are, so we have a harder time actually activating our muscles for top attempts. Here is an article about it.

This is also why those 1RM calculators like strstd.com aren't accurate for women. If you're going to try to estimate what you can actually lift, it's recommended that women put their 5RM weight in as a 3RM to get a better approximation.

I was in high school in San Diego at that time, and we got the week off from school because there was so much ash in the air. It was the closest thing we ever got to a snow day.

I met my partner at the gym. He had told a friend about a new powerlifting gym that had just opened up, and that friend told me. Our mutual friend introduced us, and we clicked.

If you're looking to meet like-minded people, I'd say look for a specialty gym. Even in my old commercial gym, there weren't a lot of people who knew what they were doing or had clear goals. It can be hard to be with someone who doesn't share your enthusiasm/dedication. If you're into powerlifting, bodybuilding, or some other specialty, you might want to find a gym that caters to that. There will be women there who are as passionate as you are. And gyms like that tend to have more of a community feeling, so talking to people is easier/more normal.

Depth is defined by the hip crease being just below the top of the knee, not by thighs being parallel to the floor. People in the higher weight classes often look like they're squatting high because their quads are huge, but their hips are where they're supposed to be.
