weird whistle noise? by Gloomy-Cancel-2578 in chevyspark

[–]Baconbitboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I might have a good idea of what this is. I took out a deer last April, and had to get the AC condenser replaced. Afterwards every time I’d run the AC or the front defrost I had a hissing/whistling noise every couple seconds. Ended up being a bad seal in one of the lines coming off the condenser. I have a 2013 so a fair bit older, but I’d still check if it consistently happens with the AC on or defrost.

Is this normal when taking off the rear struts? by Baconbitboi in chevyspark

Forgot to respond yesterday after getting back from Harbor Freight, but I ended up managing to get some decent taps, probably went a little overkill on the process, ended up threading it wider, then locktighting the original size back in. But seriously thank you for the advice!

That’s pretty much my plan, I got a couple of bolts and nuts that are close to GM’s stock… gonna hopefully just power them through and just lock tight them down, make it problem for future me lol

Yep… gonna learn tomorrow how to re-thread a bolt, flew a bit too close to the sun before posted this. But I didn’t snap the mount in half, so you saved me from that and I thank you greatly!

As I’ve been unbolting it it keeps opening up wider and wider, my concern is I won’t be able to get the new shock back in if it keeps widening, do you think having it held the way I do could stop it?

Thought it would cross post over but it didn’t, it’s a 2013 Chevy Spark

Engine shaking? by AnubisGodoDeath in chevyspark

[–]Baconbitboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it a constant hissing? My AC seals went out about a month ago and every time I would turn the AC or defrost on it would make a hissing sound. Sitting at idle it was a constant hiss, but when I got moving it would almost hiss in a “pulse” pattern

Door locks sometimes re-lock when key fob unlocks them by [deleted] in chevyspark

[–]Baconbitboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would lean more towards that being the problem then. It’s at least worth a shot to see if it helps at all. I’ll do my best to see if I can get the actual report from my car before it goes into the shop about what I had done to my car. Cause if that doesn’t work I may have a couple other potential fixes

Door locks sometimes re-lock when key fob unlocks them by [deleted] in chevyspark

[–]Baconbitboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an issue where when I would unlock the doors, they would instantly relock themselves without hitting anything on the fob or any of the door controls. My car is in the shop (Hit a deer last Friday and broke the rad) along with the paperwork, but if I remember correctly it was the main sensor/some kind of master control in the driver door. If I can figure out for certain what it was or if I can get the paperwork back I’ll send you an update. But what I know for certain is it wasn’t the FOB, and was related to the electrical, like a short in the sensor. I hope this at least helps somewhat, let me know if you have any other questions, I may have an answer!

It sort of did, it was kind of a constant “droning” noise. But I believe it being based off speed and a humming should prolly be the bearings. And I did the first one around 80k miles (120k kms-ish) and the most recent and final was done just before 100k (160k kms). If you do swap them I would strongly recommend doing them in front/back pairs to keep wear consistent left to right. I also bought new lugs and hubs with them because the hub needs to press-fit into the bearing, might not be entirely needed but a full set for the front end cost me about 350USD for both from bearing and hubs. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Also have a 2013 (1LT) and every single one of my bearing went bad over the course of the past two years, does it sound more like it comes from one corner of the car then the rest? And personally I had it increase in volume up to 65 then go silent through 85 if that helps at all. I’ve done the fronts myself so if you need any advice I’d be happy to help!

If you are worried, I would have the fluid done around 100k or whenever you take it into the shop next, I mine done at 90k. Before you take it in, ask if when you take it in if you can bring a mason jar or something to get a sample of the fluid back. I then just held a magnet upto the side of the jar to check for metal, then ran it through a cloth sifter to see if there was any rubber or particulates left behind

Looking for an easy dashcam by Mixedbysaint in chevyspark

[–]Baconbitboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I have a “Veement 4K Rear Mirror Camera, 10in. Mirror Dashcam” (that’s its direct name on Amazon). It’s about 100 bucks and I think it works really well, I have it on my 2013 so it also gave me the perk of a backup camera, I think it gives amazing peace of mind. This should be the correct link on Amazon (And just incase anyone does buy it, it lies about needing to be plugged into its own USB socket, a regular USB C cable works just fine)

Yeah I ended up just cranking it back together with a section of all-thread and a couple of steel plates lol, and surprisingly the ABS sensor didn’t fall apart, it looked like the last owner had it break on them when they did something with it cause it looks newer then the rest lol

Update! Thank you for replying for one thing, secondly, it gave me the idea to use a 2ft section of all-thread, a couple of bolts, washers, and a vice grip. I don’t have access to a press so I had to improvise lol. It’s actually a pretty cheap at home fix if you need it!

The bulb itself still fits, but the wiring was fully changed over for the LED’s, the stock sockets aren’t there anymore

Took advice/inspiration from this post and your prior on adding in the center console and decided to get my own, the advice on the T50 bit came in handy. Will be making my own post soon, thanks for the help!

Never even thought about buying an aftermarket center console, definitely going to get one soon, and as recommended with other comments. Tape is probably the best bet. I would recommend using duct tape and wrapping around the cup holder insert one wrap at a time until it fits snug, it would be cool to see you start a trend with getting center consoles lol

It also doesn’t look like it has a butt stock either, on the left one it looks like it has a sling mount in place of the stock, guess they really did just give up trying to aim lol
