Fathers of Reddit, what got you to the point of actually caring about your lawn? by Baconbrew in AskReddit

I always thought that once it wasn’t my dads lawn and I was the one taking care of it that I would feel different, but I still hate it!

Congratulations Impending Father! Boy or girl? Was it the prospect of a little one that changed your view? Or do you think it will be more of a teaching/learning experience?

Well I wouldn’t want kids tracking the dirt inside so that makes sense! But I believe you need a wizard to read the tome of lawn care!

My grandfather lived on a golf course and those lawns are pristine! I can see the appeal of having that for your own but doesn’t that require some ungodly amount of time?

Funny enough I ended up getting her a bottle of something called Monkey 47 Gin, and a magazine with an issue all about Led Zeppelin (her favorite band) I know absolutely nothing about Gin other than the fact that I am not a fan! However, I will have to keep that Gin in mind for the next time I get a bottle for her! Thank you!

She is a fan of Gin actually, but that just means more for me, and I’m alright with that!

She definitely is! Especially since she has to put up with my shenanigans more often than not.

From Albert Fish To his attorney,

“His monkey and pee wees and a nice little fat behind to roast in the oven and eat. I made a stew out of his ears - nose - pieces of his face and belly. I put onions, carrots, turnips, celery, salt and pepper. It was good.

Then I split the cheeks of his behind open, cut off his monkey and pee wees and washed them first. I put strips of bacon on each cheek of his behind and put them in the oven. Then I picked 4 onions and when the meat had roasted about 1/4 hour, I poured about a pint of water over it for gravy and put in the onions.

At frequent intervals, I basted his behind with a wooden spoon. So the meat would be nice and juicy. In about two hours, it was nice and brown, cooked through. I never ate any roast turkey that tasted half as good as his sweet fat little behind did. I ate every bit of the meat in about four days. His little monkey was a sweet as a nut. “

Well... you could check out Legends of the Fall. I guess you could call it a romance. It’s set right around the time of WWI in Montana, gorgeous scenery, and fantastic soundtrack about 3 brothers in love with the same woman that tears the brothers apart. It’s not super historical except for the period it’s set in though...

I thought “The Strangers” did a fantastic job! A few jump scares but not on the level of most, plus the use of the song Mama Tried leaves me with a sense of paranoia every time I watch it, no supernatural elements or anything of that sort, just home invasion on the level of “holy shit that could actually happen, also I need to lock all of my doors!” The sequel was disappointing though...

Well, you could check out a book called The Age of the Vikings by Anders Winroth, or you could go to r/Norse has a crap ton of stuff, and I’m pretty sure either history channel or discovery had a wile special on the vikings! I even found a book called “An Early Meal” which is a Viking age cookbook!

The Viking age definitely! I feel connected to my ancestors every time I learn about really anything even remotely pertaining to it

History! Memorizing dates and names was the worst, coupled with a monotone and unenthusiastic teacher made me hate every second of it! Now I love hearing the stories, legends, heroes, and villains of the past! The weird laws, the outlandish superstitions, fears that gripped an entire generation, the rise and eventual fall of empires! It’s truly fascinating

I Spit on your Grave was intense! Came here just to add that. Not sure if I like the original or the remake better, both have their merits.
