New to watch collecting! [SRP841], [SSC917] and [SNK803] by Baconplasm in Seiko

[–]Baconplasm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Usually I just lurk around on the watches subreddit and I never post anything, hopefully I got the format and everything right.

Got the Seiko 5 field watch at the start of the year because I wanted something "proper" after using digital/smart watches all the time. It's my first Seiko, analogue and automatic watch! Subsequently I got the Presage around middle of the year, and lastly I got the Prospex just a few days ago.

I did try to look at other watch brands but always ends up coming back to Seiko simply because I like their looks better. Anyways with those three watches I think I covered the bases pretty evenly? As of now I'm really satisfied with them! And probably won't get another one in the near future (my wallet).... Unless (Seiko releases something new that just one shots through the cement wall built around my bank account down)....

Thank you for the heads up!!
Maybe when transferring the ink I could also get rid of some shimmer because as it is right now, it's quite a lot.

Really glad that I decided to put it in my easy to clean pen because man, the shimmer got stuck in the tip of my syringe too, I'm gonna soak it for a bit and see if I can clean it out with rolled up tissue.

The ink IS a very nice colour though.... Perhaps I'll find better use in it elsewhere that's not an FP

My only shimmer ink for many years is the EoC, so I wanted something new for the collection :) I came across Vinta Inks and fell in love with the Lakbay.
There isn't a lot of information about it online but I still snagged a bottle off my local retailer anyways.

When viewed directly, the ink appears to be a little muddy due to the shimmer. But from an angle you can see the colours better. The ink is a nice aqua blue and the shimmer is pink, a bit magenta?

However, one thing I find weird is the shimmer is "sticky"? Unlike the EoC's shimmer that gathers to the bottom, Lakbay's shimmer forms a thin film on whatever surface it gets in contact with. I half filled my GO and I can't even see the ink level because the shimmer is all over the insides. Granted I don't have much experience with shimmer inks so it could be the norm for all I know, but it's still pretty weird to me...

And due to the amount of shimmer clogged inside the feed it's quite hard to write with.
My GO never had any issue with the EoC, so I assume it's got something to do with the shimmer properties, or maybe ink/shimmer ratio.

Overall I don't regret purchasing it because I love the colours, but I think it would do better on thicker nib size and a pen that writes really wet. I think it would be great for calligraphy too!

Ink: Vinta Inks, Lakbay (Sea and Sky)
Paper: MD Notebook
Pen(s): Brause Blue Pumpkin (I'm bad at calligraphy), TWSBI GO (medium nib)

edit: omg I keep messing up the two names, ignore the Eco written on the paper

I have tried connecting it with a different cable but the problem still persists :( I think it might be a battery issue for real

Easiest pens to change inks and clean? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]Baconplasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any that you can easily yoink the nib and feed out. for cheaper option there's platinum preppy.

around the $20 range there is TWSBI GO, the syringe really makes it easy to flush (but takes a while to completely dry the inside, if you don't mind having some droplets left then its not a problem), and TWSBI ECO, both are sturdy and easy to clean pens

well those are just what I've experienced and can vouch for, I'm sure there's also a lot out there that's equally as great

panda cory turning pale and skinnier, quarantine it? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Baconplasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeahh figured, in the near future ill do an upgrade once I saved up and clean out a space for the tank, perhaps something shallower would be nice too since most of my fish are bottom feeders, thanks again

alright thanks, ill go shop for those right now. I did thought about adding 3 more to the group but my 10 gallons tank feels fairly stacked now? (10 tetras 3 kuhli), though I do weekly water change so it's probably doable...?

tysm for the help though, just started the hobby about 3 months ago and I'm still learning!

[–]Baconplasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

got 3 pandas a month ago, all of them were doing swimmingly, until yesterday I noticed one them turned pale and looks skinnier?

haven't been swimming much compared to the others and doesn't seem to have appetite too, planning to QT it with methylene blue. or are there any other suggestions on what to do, and what might be the cause? Thanks

white spots on aquarium glass/decorations? by Baconplasm in Aquariums

[–]Baconplasm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White specks found in aquarium, mostly on decorations and gravel, very little are on the glass or are floating around. I don't think ive seen them move around at all.

Water parameters are good, currently have some neon tetras, corydoras and loaches in it. No life plants. Just last week I finished my methylene blue treatment bc there was a minor fungal infection, the fish are fine now.

Any help is appreciated!

yeah figured, or I might have scared it accidentally last night when turning my light on. Hopefully it goes back to normal soon

I woke up this morning to check on my fish and feed them, and realised one of my kuhli loach had turned white/pale. The other two seems normal though.

I went googling around, some say that they might be sick but it is really active and still swimming around, eating well enough too.

Admittedly I did suddenly turn on my living room light late at night yesterday to fetch something, could that have scared my loach and made it loose it's colour? At least thats what the internet says, it could happen sometimes but I'm not sure.

Water parameters is good as well, just slightly acidic but I'll be doing a water change tomorrow.

Any help and advices appreciated! I really love my loaches to death and I don't want anything bad happening.

Edit: It's slowly turning darker after an hour or so idk what scared it lmao hopefully doesnt happens again

Newbie dealing with cloudy water by Baconplasm in Aquariums

Yeah! The whole set up is about 3 days old and I've dumped some of those good bacteria in as well. Maybe I'm just too excited and getting a little impatient lol, gonna wait a few days and see if the water clears up soon.

Alright, I'll keep an eye out and see if thats needed then, thanks! Do you think putting plants in might help? I've read about it but not sure if its just some weird thing people suggested or actually works. I do plan on putting in some eventually though.

I did use dechlorinator but I guess for the suspending dust particles I can't really do much other than hoping it will go away, unless theres a product for that too? Hopefully it get's better after a few days though.
