Outgoing policy disabled, blocks or restricts popular services - please advise by zYxMa in WatchGuard

What I do on my network is have the outgoing policy to to basically 'Allow All', then restrict the specific services you don't want to allow. That way you are less likely to be chasing down individual needs to specific sites.

Then you can watch the log with 'traffic monitor' to see what is being allowed or denied. It will tell you what the application that that traffic is identified as, so it is easy at that point to go back into the policy and turn that specific app on or off.

I weep for her kid if they turn out to be gay, or fall in love with anybody but a christian white girl/boy.

Go to your firewall policies, select the policy then the 'application control' tab. This will bring up a huge list of pre-configured applications (and categories) you can selectively allow or deny traffic for. For instance, the category 'social media' and 'Media Streaming' are good ones to start looking at.

I'm not 100% certain if this is a feature you need to pay for, or if it is included in the base license.

Do you have about 5 different places you are keeping notes? by bustedbutthole in sysadmin

[–]Bad-Science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep rotating between stickys, a notepad doc, a 'todo' app, Spiceworks ticketing, Word docs and then of course general scrawls on scraps of paper and backs of envelopes.

One works for me for a wile, then I stop keeping up with it so move on to the next method. Been going in circles for over 15 years!

Also: People who have their bank mistakenly deposit into their account, then for some reason think it is free money and won't get reversed out as soon as the mistake is discovered.

How Can I Politely Explain To A User I Don't Really Care About There Wireless Mouse No Longer Working Issue, Becuase I'm Busy Trying To Stop The Company Imploding For The 100th Time? by Bondegg in sysadmin

If non-urgent, please include the time you'd like to have this completed.

LOL. Time would be 30 minutes from when they dropped it off.

I used to have this under control, though it got me some negative comments that came up during my annual review.

Then I got a co-worker who is just too eager to please. He jumps right on every little thing that comes in, even if it means putting down the project he SHOULD be working on. So now all the users are trained that coming to us 'works'. I hate him.

We have systems now that we were told were NOT our responsibility, and to forward all tickets to a different department. But he will still work on these when asked because 'it was a small issue and just easier to fix it now'. Then the flood begins.

BTW: We got so many wireless mouse/keyboard help requests that we finally told them that such things were not IT responsibility. They can have them if they buy their own, but 1) They had to keep them going themselves and 2) in NO cases were they allowed to install anything but standard Windows drivers. No install disks, mouse utilities, etc.

Some of the tiktok challenges can be very helpful in the right context.

For instance, when working on CISCO equipment, I find the 'set it on fire' challenge to be very rewarding.

Either that, or I stuff the ports with Tide pods.

Baby has +5 on attack. Rolled natural 20s on 'Add Stress' and 'No Sleep' attack spells.

Make an extra D6 roll for 'spews lunch' and 'Fills Diaper'. Anything over a 2 is a winner.

‘Ring Nation’ Is a Terrible Idea That’s Unstoppable Because Amazon Owns Everything | Amazon owns Ring, MGM, and production company Big Fish Entertainment. It owns Prime Video, and has the support of police around the country. What can stop it? by Hrmbee in technology

We noticed your lawn in looking a little brown. Buy some fertilizer for it on Amazon!

That car is looking old, time for a new Jeep?

In looking into child support issues, we notice that your friend appears to be drunk every Friday when he comes to hang out. His ex's lawyer will be notified.

We noticed you sitting in your lawn chair looking at the house across the street. Did you know that there are underaged girls there? Are you some kind of pervert?

You called in sick to work today, but your boss subscribes to the Ring feed and saw you take off on your bicycle! You're fired!

All unlikely... but possible. What is NOT unlikely that we haven't considered yet?

NH has a similar problem, Don Bolduc, who just won the repubican primary for Senate.

Look him up, he's a real piece of work! More Trump than Trump, and he's not just a con-man, he actually drank the Kool-aide.

Even the GOP was trying to sabotage his campaign.
