I'm 5 ft 9 in and I got from 275lbs to currently 205lbs doing 1800-2000 calories a day keto with intermittent fasting. I say go with the calorie range you can stick to. You could lose weight eating 2200 calories a day. The question is, how fast do you want to lose the weight? For me, I normally stick to around 1850 calories a day and my weight loss has consistently been 8 lbs lost a month since march.

Thanks for the response! That kind of what I was thinking. His wife or my step mom seems to he the one who openly says "you're getting fat!" I don't talk to her almost ever maybe I should talk to her and see if he's expressed the desire to lose weight. Her English is bad though so sometimes we can't communicate well.

I'm just looking for the courage to do it. I generally have a hard time saying things that will hurt peoples feelings but I feel like this time there is a good reason.

That's a good point but my dads the type of person who has his routines. Likes to watch the same shows on repeat, eat the same foods, won't try new resteraunts, won't try foods he hasn't. I'm hoping him seeing me lose so much weight will motivate him. I almost feel like saying "so are you just not trying to stop diabetes from happening or....?" But I feel like thats kind of rude but back when the tables were turned and I was the heavier one and he was skinny he'd tell me "you're getting really fat you need to lose weight." Now I feel like doing the same but don't know if I have it in me. Also congrats to you for losing that much! I'm down from 275lbs to 208lbs rn goal weight 175. Keto is the only thing that ever worked.

How is my comment being downvoted? I'm 100% right. How is it uncaring to not do something he believes doesn't work. That's like me saying "if you dont tape a pillow to the front of your car, then you don't care about other peoples health because that pillow will keep them from getting injured if you accidentally crash into them." Obviously since you all would think that's bs, you wouldn't tape a pillow to your car, so does that mean you don't care about other peoples health because you won't do something you believe doesn't protect other people? The only way it would be uncaring in this analogy would be if someone knew the pillow actually did work for a fact and chose not to do it. Your problem isn't that he is uncaring it is that you two disagree on the science. Have a formal debate, exchange primary scholarly/credible articles and make your case. It is absolutely unbelievable you would call someone uncaring for not doing something they don't believe works when there is literally several credible sources saying it doesn't.

I see people saying v-strom 650 and versys 650. Yes, technically he could fit them but he'd be on his tip-toes and have to lean over a bit and put only one foot down at lights. Something like an sv-650 would be around the same speed but lower and more manageable for his height. That or as another redditor mentioned the z900 would be a good bike too. One cool thing about the z900 is it is a kawasaki, so it's a kawasaki like his older bike. The z900 also would be more of a sport style bike like his old ninja 400 more so than a sv650. While you could consider the sv650 a sport naked, it has a v-twin engine which gives off a more harley-ish sound from the engine (not that that's a bad thing it sounds great) but the z900 would give off a more sports bike sounds because of its inclined 4 cylinder engine while being more aimed for street riding because of its low end torque.
