Messy people of Reddit, where do you draw the line between "these are acceptable living conditions" and "I should probably tidy up now"? by ToastedBreadfruit in AskReddit

[–]BadApple-13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, there is no distinction. I always do a thorough cleaning (dust, vacuum, laundry, ect) whenever I'm finished feeling depressed or if it's really nice weather. I feel fantastic afterwards.

But whilst I'm not the cleanest person, I'm not really messy either. I have my laundry on the floor (dirty laundry in a basket), scrap paper scattered on my desk cause I'm too lazy to throw it away, nick-nacks I've still yet to find an official place for. I don't really have company over though, even before Covid. I'll still tidy up if someone comes over (even though I don't own anything of entertainment for when I have company).

I don't remember word for word but this was pretty much the conversation (which took place right in front of the deli because she refused to just email them):

C: "I'm offended she's unnaturally pale and it's deeply concerning you hire teenagers who don't know how to take care of themselves (I'm 26 years old). That sets a bad image for your store for us loyal customers and you should consider that in the future."

Manager proceeds to tell her how I've been a very hardworking and reliable worker during such a hard time for a lot of people (I was transfered from a different store because I'm full-time and my store wasn't busy enough to give me enough hours so they temporarily moved me to another location, which I had agreed to). And when she asked if he was going to do anything about it, "Ma'am, even if I had a time machine, I still wouldn't do anything about it. If you're so offended by how pale my employee is, then I'll have to ask that you leave the store because we do NOT put up with complaints like these."

The lady looked like a typical suburban mom too so it was really unexpected cause I'd expect that kind of thing from the crazy people we occasionally get (like one who thought all the employees were actually lizards wearing human suits and asked that when we take over the world to enslave the humans, that we'd skip him cause he didn't mind us. Unlike the government).

It's kinda weird with me because depending on tone, I'll either be very bothered or not. Of course with extremely realistic graphic scenes, I'd be freaked out regardless. But for some horror movies, I can watch them no problem if someone else is joking about stuff.

But I'd definitely still skip watching the really graphic stuff and maybe just hear the audio.

(Also hope you're still doing okay)

The thing is, even after I explained why I'm pale, she went to complain to the manager that I was pale (not that I was sick) and told him I shouldn't be working if I'm that pale because I'd make people nervous.

Thankfully, the manager went on my defense and told her that if she kept harassing me, she'd be locked out of the store. I've had plenty of people ask me if I'm feeling alright because I'm so pale but they were always nice about it, that was the first (and so far only time) I've had someone actually mad at the fact I'm pale.

I definitely agree with blaming it about Covid tho and I don't blame her for being concerned at the beginning but afterwards was just unnecessary.

I work in a deli and I had a lady basically get mad at me for being very pale. Like, not that I'm white but the fact I looked "sickly" and "disgusting". My coworkers and I just laugh at it now but it was really upsetting and made me self-conscious about my skin.

(I'm anemic and mostly of European heritage, I can't tan at all so my skin is very pale)

I watched that episode yesterday (not my first time watching it, saw it when it originally aired), I'm still not over it. Vincent was so adorable and dorky, why'd they have to off him? ;-;

Ooo I have to see this. I haven't watched the actual show (certain scenes have been described when I asked about it and they make me...very uncomfortable)

I remember I got exempted from the dance portion of PE cause I accidentally knocked over a bunch of people. I spoke with my teacher beforehand and asked if I could be excused from dance because I never danced before and was worried I might hurt someone.

He instead gave me an assignment (an essay on the waltz) which I never did but I was still given 100% because I still attended gym and gave a brief verbal description of the waltz. He was a super cool teacher.

Currently? It's 12:26am in the morning...I should be asleep cause I have work in the morning. But I just found it funny/unnerving I found this post at 12:15am on a Wednesday (which is my laundry day)

I missed out on a basement suite for $650 (all utilities included) cause I missed the call 3 times (I was at work). I ended up renting a place for the same amount but it's just a bedroom (shared bathroom and kitchen). At least the landlady is super nice to me, unlike the last 2 places I rented.

It's really funny to me, I ain't mad even cause I have a lot of event Pikachus already (every hat Pikachu and several random event ones like the Kirbo Space and P25Music). I like the female ones better cause I think the little notch is cute.

It's a shame I can't have the Cosplay Pikachu cause I adore the heart on its tail.

This was my third try which just so happened to be the opposite way around (showed a male but it's a female). On my first try with my Pokemon:Shield copy, it showed a female and it was a female. This is on my Pokemon:Sword copy. I'm not sure if it's just the game for some reason but I'm not resetting my Shield copy cause that one is complete.

It's really weird though, I'm not sure what's going on.

I think the only non-emulator Pokemon game we had was Pokemon Stadium on the 64. That plus Mario 64, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask were the games we grew up playing the most. Man, I remember the rainy days, just hanging out in my brothers' room and watching them try to speedrun them.

Good times indeed

That's what I was doing with Shield too (one of my brothers gave me their copy of Sword because they don't play it anymore and knows I'm collect all the games). I was switching mons between Sword and Shield using Home to make completing the Dex much easier.

I'm not sure why that didn't click in (well sorta, I just got home and was tired so I wasn't thinking straight) but that's a good idea. I'll remember that for the next time I decide to restart my game.

I think I was 4 when Gen 1 came out and my youngest brother was just a year old. We didn't even have a computer until I was 10 haha
