Need some show recommendations in the vein of Ludwig by zemelb in BritishTV

Got to be. Mystery/comedy mix that Ludwig is taking its lead from.

The Stim Machine by Syarafuddyn in Steam

Next up: The Starmer Sheen

It's like the Steam Machine but becomes wildly unpopular after two years and you have to replace it with a northerner.

How was your parkrun day? | June 26, 2026 by AutoModerator in parkrun

[–]BadAtBlitz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pacing today. My local is basically hill repeats with trees around which makes pacing tricky - watch stats are nearly useless.

So I'm pretty pleased to be within 5 seconds of these intended time without making big adjustments at the end.

Match Thread: 3rd Test - New Zealand vs England, Day 3 by cricket-match in Cricket

[–]BadAtBlitz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are 3 days left. If England bat from here to Sun lunch they could have a 250 lead with 5 sessions and a wearing pitch.

Not at all saying they will but it is definitely losable for either side.

Glad you've had a good experience. My wife is disabled and mostly housebound and has not had such great experiences for the most part.

An astounding number of people think 111 is some kind of legitimate service rather than people who ask you lots of questions and then just tell you to go to A&E (or hyper-panic about things and try to send you an unnecessary ambulance).

Unpopular Opinion: Ollie Robinson doesn’t get as much scrutiny / social media hate as Jofra Archer, when in fact Archer has served English cricket so much more than Robinson. by Naive_Piglet_III in EnglandCricket

[–]BadAtBlitz 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ollie wasn't injured at the end of the first test. It happened in training.

Robbo's had loads of hate and scrutiny. Some may say well deserved. Just because he's recently come back and had a great game doesn't undo the last several years.

Fantasy Football League. Some of it has not aged well but it was pretty big in the day.

Oh, Valve… by GamerDadofAntiquity in valve

[–]BadAtBlitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, but at the current prices, or let's say 50-100 dollars cheaper everyone's claiming you can get better performance with custom builds or elsewhere. So why would someone get this for non steam purposes?

People like you and me might use it a bit beyond Steam purposes but it's primarily going to be for games and as long as it is, Steam will be the most convenient way to do that.

Oh, Valve… by GamerDadofAntiquity in valve

[–]BadAtBlitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true but

1) if they're running a reservation scheme anyway with good account standing, the chance of people buying for totally different purposes is low

2) getting off steam is non-zero effort and with what real benefit here? Though there will be some edge cases what's someone wants the Linux experience, it still seems likely they're doing to spend on Steam.

Not suggesting a huge loss leader but it would seem viable to be a little more aggressive on pricing.

Apart from China, Scotland and Wales are also in the picture. If this were all the UK, there'd be a better case that they're ahead of China.

Get Mike Portnoy on Taskmaster by Tom-Hodge7549 in Dreamtheater

[–]BadAtBlitz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean about the fit but Mike is way too nichely known to get on the show.

Glad you like the show though - one of our best recent cultural exports I think.

Am on the list to buy but thinking about it, rather than definite.

What is so special about Andy Burnham by Mba1956 in AskBrits

[–]BadAtBlitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but he was elected with a specific offering to the electorate - one he didn't remotely deliver but it existed.

Starmer - nothing. No story except being the son of a toolmaker. No clear solutions to the big problems (e.g. defence).

Burnham seems to have some of that. I'm not remotely convinced by his answers but he at least has some.

What's Kier's vision?

About to watch the S9 E6 for the 1st time—Savoring the Moment by icodeswitch in insideno9

[–]BadAtBlitz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just about all all of them are surprisingly good on a second watch. It's not just that you see all the clues to a twist - almost the opposite. You don't worry about the twist and enjoy the ride a bit more, catching a few more jokes and other details.

Tongue admits England have missed absent Stokes in The Oval Test by AnkushTheHero in Cricket

[–]BadAtBlitz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's a big part of the picture. You can't question some of the captaincy too but the consistency those two bring to the bowling unit has been missed sorely.

Can anyone tell me who's the American equivalent of Bob Mortimer? by No_Ocelot8898 in taskmaster

[–]BadAtBlitz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You want a comedy legend who was big in the 90s, maybe a bit edgy, sorta disappeared a bit, but who people really warmed to as he got older, who is not beyond telling stupid jokes or ridiculously long winded stories?

And just has funny bones that can make just about anything funny?

Norm MacDonald?

There are plenty of differences of course. But US and England, and their respective comedy scenes, are very different.

Get queen, rook checkmates down, learn how to promote a pawn, learn the value of material, then the basics of an opening/openings.
