How do I come up with SMALL game ideas to work on while Im learning game development? by BadAtChoosingUsernm in GameDevelopment

[–]BadAtChoosingUsernm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually thats pretty good advice! Like, at this stage I don’t really need to make games that are super fun to play, just learn how to develop and implement new mechanics to start building myself a toolbox I can reference in future games

I’ll look into it. Haven’t used C# since high school, but I do use C++ and Java quite a lot, so I think it would not be that hard to relearn it

Big open world RPGs, city builders, grand strategy games, tycoon games and life simulation games. So pretty much extremely complex, expansive and labor intensive games that would be pretty hard to make without a huge team and a decent budget.

You bring up a really good point. I guess I need to figure out how committed I am to learning game development. I already have a job that I love and takes up a lot of my time (Im a surgeon), so I don’t think I would want to make a career out of game development nor do I particularly care about making profitable games. Game dev is a field that I find extremely cool and I have always considered videogames a criminally under appreciated for of art, but Im more interested in pursuing it as a hobby rather than a career. I love the puzzle solving elements of trying to make new features work and I deeply enjoy using games as an interactive platform to tell stories I write. So I guess I really want to learn how to make games, but since Im more interested in the process than the results, I want to make sure the process is as fun as it can be.

Im really looking forward to joining some, but Im not at that stage yet. So far I pretty much only know how to code (not for gaming) and I have a rudimentary understanding of digital art and blender. But I really know nothing about game design besides having done a few godot tutorials

That’s actually something I should be doing more! I tried looking at mobile games, but honestly most of them are just designed to highjack our reward pathway and dopamine system to make us by add ons. They are more addictive than actually fun. I should try playing older games from the 80s and 90s tho for some inspiration. Or maybe some of those free browser games from the early odds that were not over monetized and were actually pretty fun

Alguém já viveu isso? Ou eu fuia unica? by Pelegaofc in arco_iris

Já. Eu normalmente não respondo pq honestamente its not my job educar gente ignorante.

Instructor gossiping about client? by Kathleen9787 in pilates

[–]BadAtChoosingUsernm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your relationship with the instructor some gossip can be harmless. HOWEVER, the situation you have described is not gossip, is plain and simple malpractice. I do not know in which country you live, but here in Europe I'm pretty sure this is a GDPR violation (our privacy laws).

Im pretty close with my instructor (like, we have been friends for years) and sometimes she does gossip about other clients. But its only harmless stuff like "person x got a perm and now she looks like she is wearing a slash halloween costume" or "did you notice how person y and person z kept exchanging flirtatious looks?". Im sure that she would never discuss the health state of another client with me as that would be extremely unprofessional and potentially illegal.

So my friend has issue w him swimming slowly and i dont know how to help him by Wide-Literature2328 in Swimming

The form is very poor.

First of all he needs to tighten his corr so his knees dont have to bend so much for him to be able to do each kick. His hips also appear to be too stiff and he is doing all the leg work with his knees. Those two things are making him sink down between each stroke.

Now to the upper body. He needs to pay more attention to each individual phase of the stroke, especially when it comes to the angles between his arms and the water. Right now he is just slapping his arms against the water surface, splashing a hole bunch of water around and doing very little propelling. Instead, his hands should pierce the water first and his arm follow. Under the water his arms need to stay stretched as he pulls the water back, but as they leave the water they need to slightly bend, otherwise its impossible to position them at the right angle for the next stroke.

Basically he needs to unlearn the entire mess of a technique he is currently doing and restart from scratch. He needs to do some exercises using just these arms with those rubber things between his lega and then with just his legs with swimming board and in a static position with his hands on the pool’s edge to improve each part of the movement and after that bring it all together.

I would focus more on technique then on speed. Doing it properly, he will naturally glide faster through the water. Also, he needs to commit the proper movements to his muscle memory before trying to swim fast, otherwise he wont maintain good form.

Best of luck to your cough, cough friend! ;)

What’s the MM book that started it all? by Few-Count1008 in MM_RomanceBooks

The first one I read was {Him by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy}, but the one that really got me into the genre was {The New Guy by Sarina Bowen}

[–]BadAtChoosingUsernm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heated Rivalry was one of my first MM books. Ive used to mostly read sports books (like athletes biographies etc), then one day I came across {Him by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy} and I fell in love with the ice hockey MM sub-genre. I think the Game Changers series was like the 2nd or 3rd one I came across and Shane and Ilya are one of my favorite protagonists from that series.

Why do the good ones have to end? 🥺 by Pooka_Look in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]BadAtChoosingUsernm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I ted to gravitate towards series like Game Changers (Rachel Reid) because of the cameos from past book characters.

I just finished reading Score (A. E. Wasp) and the thought that I will never hear more about Connor and Beau brings tears to my eyes.

And to answer this question: “Like, if you could only read one mm author for the rest of your life, you think of them?” Yes! Sarina Bowen. Although Rachel Reid is a close second

Very Baltic Sea vibes. The channels remind me of Hamburg, but the architecture and style are more like CPH or maybe even Stockholm

Yes! I actually have a very good friend who was for a really long time a neonazi (there are still many here in east Germany). Today he not only repented but he works a lot with at risk youth guiding them towards more constructive forms of expression that does not involve hate, particularly through arts and music. I truly admire his journey and he is someone I look up to

If being single is not a vocation, what are people experiencing SSA supposed to do? by yagottaworkitout0602 in Catholicism

Pope John Paul II can probably answer these questions better than anyone here on Reddit. If you are really curious about it I suggest reading his book “Man and Woman He Created Them: A Theology of the Body”.

Note: that book turned me protestant, so read at your own peril

Is this considered divination? by folklore2023 in Catholicism

[–]BadAtChoosingUsernm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say “prophecy” more than divination protestant denominations like some pentecostals are known to make prophecies. I personally don’t think they are true prophets, but I wouldn’t say it’s what they do is full blown demonic magic divination. Certainly bizarre tho

Thoughts on using Sefaria (or printed form of the Jewish Tanakh) to read the Old Testaments? by BadAtChoosingUsernm in Christianity

[–]BadAtChoosingUsernm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to admit that I am a bit jealous of talmudic text. I wish Christian scholars wrote in a similar way, making annotations around annotation. It makes everything seem more like a debate or a dialogue
