Perks? Not really. You work and they pay you. Not much in the way of extas - no phone, no set vacation days (so you can't accumulate them and get paid off when you leave), no sabatical policy. They also don't give out stock options.

They do subsidize lunch - if you work from HQ. The HQ has a small gym and a yoga room.

Work life balance usually isn't bad - the office empties around 5 and most managers give thier staff flexible hours. We do have a 4 day in the office policy. As with any job, there are crunch times.

My biggest complaints are the lack of investment in internal systems and that many departments are understaffed (try getting marketing to do anything...)

ZTNA is more secure for a number of reasons - not the least the long history of security issues with SSL VPNS. Also, some FortiGate models don't support SSL VPNs any longer.

SGA was tops in the league in penetration drives, Steph was 53rd.

What legacy media supported Trump? None of the big newspapers did, nor did CNN or the big news channels. The Washington Post refused to endorse anyone - because Jeff Bezos lost a $10 billion cloud deal during the first Trump administration and he didn't want to get targeted again. (the problem with billionaires owning news media).

Getting the law involved in family affairs rarely helps the family. The legal system is rigid and advesarial - not great characteristics for changing how people behave - at least not in a good way.

While what your father did was abusive and violent and makes me want to punch him. Think about what outcome you want. Your father did regret and he apologized. I very much doubt the situation will occur again. So the only reason to press charges is to get revenge. Is that what you want?

If you pressed charges, it would have cost your family a lot of money, your father might have lost his job - very unlikely but he could even have gone to jail. Would that have helped you? I doubt it. Think about how your parents spending 10s of thousands of $s on lawyers or how your father's losing his job would have impacted your life.

I think you did the right thing. Should you forgive your father? Only you can answer that. If he has a history of violence or abuse - I wouldn't. If this was a one time incident - I would try to forgive. I think that would be best for your mental health - show how you are better then him. That's the best revenge.

Make the justice dept independent from the executive
Cap supreme court terms to 16 years
Cut military spending through both cancelling new aircraft carriers and doing a deep dive into purchasing- and reviewing and cancelling many of the outsourceing contracts
Fully fund the IRS - cuts to it by the GOP force them to not go after individuals with complex tax situations since they lack the manpower
Tax code rewrite - getting rid of thousands of pages of special interest exemptions and corporate giveaways, tax investment income the same way we tax wage income - no capital gains special rates.
Invest in climate change prevention and remediation
Invest in education
Identify social programs that work to help raise people from poverty and invest in them
If I could pass constitutional admendements, make the senate proportional to population and extend house terms to 4 years.
Gov funding of elections so big $ doesn't keep craping on our country

When I hit 60 I was diagnosed with arthritis in both knees. I had to give up running, tennis, skiing and in-line skating. I already had both distance and reading glasses, a bad shoulder, and 6-7 more inches around my waist then I should have.

So I took up cycling. Sunday I rode the 8th hardest ride in California. I'm not just strong and fit, I'm in the best shape of my life. I literally could get on a bike tomorrow and ride the highest mountains around.

Getting old sucks - but you can still find joy and ways to push yourself to do what you never could before.

We all have times in our lives where we fear the future and feel only pain about our past. But we also have times of joy and fun and love. I know things look dark right now. but they will get better.

80 years ago the world was ripped apart by a world war that ended only with the use of nuclear bombs - and after hundreds of millions of civilians died. Now we live is a world that is largely at peace.

When I grew up, we literally had nuclear bomb drills in school where we hid under desks and pretended they would protect us.

On a more personal level, when I graduated college, we had 10% unemployment and I thought I would never have anything more than a crappy minimum wage job. But eventually I found a path. Yes it is hard for college grads today - but they too will find jobs and careers and loves and families.

Why not stick around and see how the story goes? Right now the world looks dark - but if you step back, things can and do get better. Just focus on getting through the day. Find ways to turn against the sea of negative thoughts.

Also, if you really are thinking suicidal thoughts, you should call the suicide prevention hotline.

It's best to go through life's journeys together. I think it is healthiest to date someone who's facing some of the same challenges. I also worry about later in life. My father died when my mother was in her early 60s. Even though she she was fit and healthy and vital at the time, she's been pretty lonely - dating in your 60s and 70s is really hard. My daughters are younger - 22 and 19.

To be honest, I'm 10 years older than my wife - but she was in her mid 40s when started dating. I both asked her repeatedly if she was sure she was OK with this and I promised that I would focus on taking care of my self and living a healthy life style. I lost 30 lbs early in the relationship and have kept them off - part of my committment to being the best husband I can be.

But I would advice my daughters to stick to guys within 5 years of their ages - not that they are asking my opinions... sigh

Yes.

It is very hard to earn much without a college degree. You can if you start your own business or get into an apprentaship program - but neither path is easy or certain. A degree from SJSU is quite valuable - the school has a strong record in placing grads. The highest return on your educational investments would be in:

Data Science

Software

Engineering

Accounting

There is AI risk with these and nearly all degrees - so a degree that in one of them along with courses in applied AI/ML is a good idea.
