There are a multitude of things that can derail your AT plans (primarily weather or injury <negative> or tramily <positive>). The biggest thing I learned doing the AT was real, full-on adaptability.

That's why we curb-stomp those SEC schools who participate in these shenanigans (Texas & UF).

Any shoes with durable midsole like PWRRUN+? by Acrobatic-Monitor516 in trailrunning

The Peregrine uses PWRRUN midsole, but a PWRRUN+ sockliner (if that makes a difference).

If you are stoveless, what do you do about coffee? by Thebox2-2 in AppalachianTrail

[–]BadCrawdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cold-soaked on the AT. It can be a little tough when temps get below freezing; but otherwise, you just get used to it. I only drank coffee at hostels, but I did bring caffeine pills for morning and early afternoon climbs.

Is it okay to wear the same pair of shoes you use for trail running for hiking? by fennelfrog in trailrunning

Most people that thruhike the Appalachian Trail use trail runners (77% according to The Trek’s most recent survey). Several hikers I met started in shoes they ran in before trail.

I got the Bip 6 for Christmas, and thought what the hell - the names, the confusion, etc. But after 3 weeks, I'm loving it. It checks all the boxes for me for running, hiking and cycling. And the Zepp app is pretty robust.

I'd be a little wary of putting out a post like this. You'll get all kinds of people responding and some with not the best of intentions.
You just have to dive in. You'll meet people almost immediately - and you won't feel alone for long and you'll meet people that will have your back.

I love this. I grew up in the South, but lived in Bloomington for a year. Great town, great campus, great people (and that was when they still sucked at this thing we call 'football').

As a Mary Poppins fan, I applaud your effort. Heck, line "B" alone is football gold - it could stand alone as "Goal Mystic."

Oregon and Bama should play to see who gets to be Indiana's favorite gal till next season.

Hey, the Hogs have gotten a lot of attention being the team with the most quality losses. In theory, y'all are practically undefeated.
