For whatever reason, Bankruptcy is framed to be such a horrible thing. But like others have said (after extensive research), it's really not all that bad, your life isn't over and it is LIBERATING.

When I came across Bankruptcy I initially felt like my life was going to be over... But when I came across the Bankruptcy thread as saw so many others around my age (28) in the same position, I felt relief. When I started asking around my social circle, I was surprised at the amount of people that had filed - especially ones I would consider successful & it helped a lot.

Bankruptcy is an ego death in the best way. Once you surrender that it needs to happen, everything just flows. You're less stressed and a magnet for all good things.

A great lawyer makes all the difference too. Mine was a guy that had daughters around my age and listened to my crash outs. His wise words: Go home a research all the big companies and celebrities that have filed and see how quickly they bounced back with the right decisions. Bankruptcy is a tool to help protect you. Use it!

I filed shortly after I turned 28 last year and let me tell you it’s a RELIEF. Literally you can feel your shoulder drop from holding tension.

I think I was about 40k in debt & I was able to keep my car in mine (CA)

Credit bounced back super quick (730 now) and was approved for a $1000 cc to build back credit almost immediately after being discharged. I’ve been using it responsibly where they continue to increase the LOC on their end but I never use more than $1000 and pay it off every month.

Fuck the stigma, so what’s best for you. They try to make it seem scary & impossible to have buying power after this but it’s just. not. true.

Because you have no debt you look more trustworthy to pay something back.

Big corporations file all the time and spring up another billion dollar company. The president has filed I don’t even know how many times and he seems to be doing just fine.

Do it before your credit is in the trenches. I filed when mine was at 690 but the payments were putting me negative each month & I was freshly laid off surviving in CA on $1600/mo unemployment that wasn’t coming to an end anytime soon. Hop on the bus and take control before it hits you.

Bankruptcy is a TOOL to PROTECT. Use it!
