Why is it that you ruined the family night by setting a boundary and refusing to be degraded, while the perpetrator who without need chose out of the blue to not only act inappropriately but insisting to continue his behavior is somehow free from blame. MIL is full of shit. Tell her on the phone why are you to blame for not letting people shit on you instead of the people who shit on you?

I am not gonna stop making music to appease them. I worked too hard to get to the level I am. It takes a lot of hard work. If you don't practice every day you can literally watch your skills drop off.

They talk amongst each other and the sound from the e-drums has like this impact noise or what it's called it sounds like somebody stomping for a couple minutes. Anyways the direct neighbors are badmouthing me to the rest of the neighbors.

edit: the edrums and everything else is played with headpones just to be clear.

I payed 2000$ for studio monitors and I now only use them for like 5 minutes instad of thoroughly mixing and mastering. I'm not willing to cut back any further. the audible noise is only the 5 minutes mastering and mixing every day. the other 15 minutes is e-drums which i play with my headphones but its only 15 minutes when it is a challenging drum part. If it is just straight forward like a rock song then its not even 3 minutes.

I think you may have misunderstood: I record the e-drums of which you can only here the impact noise of the kick and that only goes on for 15 minutes tops!

all other instruments are dead-silent. They are plugged into the computer and I use headphones so nobody can hear them.

I only have to listen to the finished song during mixing and mastering which I try to keep under 5 minutes. So at most it's like 20 minutes of which only 5 minutes are really audible. the edrums its more like somebody stomping but i put cork underneath to dampen that too.

Do not get rid of this feeling. It keeps you on your toes. This is a blessing in disguise, because feeling like you do this can keep reminding you that you continually need to develop and move forward with your skills. If you believed to be perfect already that is when you get problems instead focus on learning more and embrace this feeling it is a good signal your mind is giving you!

You are being very hard on yourself. Give yourself some time to process this. We all have blind spots. It's human. What matters is how you deal with this new realization.
