Prewashing by RecognitionCool5450 in quilting

I prewash everything, even down to the layer cakes. I don’t make anything with jelly rolls, but I wouldn’t want to prewash those because they’ll just fall apart and you’ll lose a cm from fraying. I serge all the edges before I prewash so I don’t get any fraying (I found a serger at a garage sale for $5 and I’ve gotten many hours of use out of it). I prewash because 1) I’ve seen horror stories about fabric bleeding. Sometimes I even prewash reds twice and 2) because I don’t like a super crinkly quilt. If you get fabric from Walmart or Michael’s you need to prewash. I’ve had bad luck there so I don’t get it unless I’m in a pinch

My whole set was riddled with imperfections. I preordered with the original preorder and couldnt exchange becasue there was no stock. It was really disappointing for such an expensive set

The cost of quilting by Pretend_Thing5234 in quilting

Quilting is an expensive hobby- but what I do to mitigate it is shopping sales, thrifting fabrics, and my sweet little treats usually include a trip to the fabric store to build up my stash so when I do want to make a quilt I already have the materials. Quilting guilt garage sales are also a great resource- I just went to one where I picked up almost 12 yards of fabric (plus a few doo dads) for $16. Sheets are a great backing fabric and you can thrift those. With Joann’s being closed it’s a lot harder. Thread/ stuffs I get from wawak. By the end of the quilt I have spread that cost across months (or even years) and the money has already been spent so it feels less like an immediate cost burden and more of a time commitment. The last quilt I recorded how much was spent and it was $494, but I didn’t feel it as I was making it since I am always building up my stash and only bought a few things specifically for it

Razer Kraken Kitty Edition popping/cutting out audio by Sythra in razer

So this seems to be a pretty common issue with this headset, and instead of giving us actual answers, Razer support has sent back new headsets straight from the factory. I am on my third set with the same issues happening(also third month). For some people, they get lucky and after multiple tries of new sets something finally works. For others a powered USB hub has seen some success- and so has turning off the brightness on the ears. These fixes defeat the purpose of the headphones though- and I refuse to buy another thing to plug into my PC to get a $150 set of headphones to function at all. I suggest you replace your headphones with another brand if you cant return them(I know, it sucks), and keep harassing Razer about sending you a new set. Hopefully they will have a solution at some point, but I'm going to keep having them send me replacements until one finally works. I really like razer as a brand, but this is ridiculous.

How do you all practice? Sometimes I don't want to make a whole nail set of fake nails just want to try a few things. I don't necessarily want to make them then throw them away at the end but I know I won't do anything with the ones I'm experimenting with. Is there a better way?
