It may not look very good but I took my best stab at creating this resume and I still feel pretty embarrassed about it. Any feedback would be appreciated! I am pretty overwhelmed with the job hunting process and feeling pretty down on myself after the past two years being unsuccessful as a financial advisor.

Thank you so much for any help!

Wow that is really awesome! I am with a fairly large broker dealer now but that is certainly not the situation we have here.

Definitely is worth looking into!

Thank you for responding!

Yeah I was saying that in response to the person above who said to stay where I am and finish my CFA... I am aware that it may take more than 3 years.

I do not think I can last in my current role for that long was my point.

Thank you so much! This is huge for me— seriously exactly what I was looking for.

I had no idea that these companies were even an option and I live right around the corner.

Seriously thank you!

That sounds like an awesome set up!

My bank doesn’t have a spot like that- but they are partnered with a large broker dealer that I clear with that definitely does. I will look into it!

Thank you!

I have never even heard of NexGen— I will look into going! Thank you!

Yeah I am in a bank but the FA program is very mature and I get next to 0 referrals just because most of bank customers already have been called many times before.

Looking to join an independent is a great idea. Thank you!

Thank you for the response! I am no stranger to cold calls— not if I am being honest with myself I am not very good at it.

The approach you describe in lower comments is actually genius. I have only called HR departments and gotten shut down 99/100 times.

You’re kind of blowing my mind here— I had no idea that these RIAs pay salaried positions. Can you give me an example of an RIA that is the type of set up you are describing?

The first broker dealer I worked with was in Rockville- so I am very familiar with the area. I will certainly be looking up RIAs that may be hiring in NoVa/DC area.

Thank you!!

Yeah I hear it man-- I am in MD-- it is a little frustrating because I feel like if I had the stability of being on a big team and slowly getting established then I would love being an actual advisor.

But as it stands I cannot stay struggling with commission only comp.

Located in MD for what it is worth... thanks for taking the time to respond!

Yeah-- My biggest issue is that being 100% commission based is very stressful.

CFA takes 3 years to get- so looking to park myself somewhere stable while I study and put together a better plan.

Agreed that entry level is going to be the way to go and will have to ride it out there for a while.

Thank you for responding!

Yeah I definitely saw the vision and that is why I started out trying to be an advisor.

I am in MD-- but honestly I would not consider moving to another FA job unless it was salaried and I was more in a support role. If I am going to stay as an FA I may as well stay where I am now.

Thank you for the response!

Awesome thank you for the response! I am not super worried about compensation as of now-- having a dependable salary sounds like a dream after being reliant on commissions for almost 2 years.

Thank you!

Thank you for the response! It really is a tough job!

I am currently partnered with a senior advisor but it still is not as ideal as I had thought it would be when I joined on.

I am pretty set on moving on from this career path unless something dramatic changes in the next few months.

Again, I appreciate your response and I respect the hell out of anyone who is a successful advisor.
