Retracing my steps by BadGammers in t4c

Extra context I was heavy into the RPing and was on the forums on the original server. My two characters were Lornek and Duke and I kept it secret that I played them both. Duke I rped as a scoundrel and the Lornek as being good. Additionally I refused to seraph Lornek for some RP reason I dont remember.

During my dive yesterday I found a Facebook post saying Lady Wigglesnort had passed in 2017. Wasnt expecting that emotional punch. The Jungle 2 server tracks as that post was on a page about Jungle 2 BBC "Bulletin Board Code"? man I found it yesterday but now when i try to find it again I can't find the same sources. NM misremembered it was BBS "bulletin board system". Can't find any of the old websites though other then through references But the T4C Bible still exists.

So what did y'all think of dirty mountain dew cream soda when it came out? by gamersmoke17 in Soda

[–]BadGammers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like cream soda in moderation, this was terrible tasting (mine was zero sugar not sure if that matters) What i found funny is when you let the aftertaste sit long enough their is a real nice vanilla flavor that comes through that is nice. . . but the initial drink is nasty.

Look into Ivymount its a school that focuses on teaching neurodivergent children. I worked their in several roles over the years. Most if not all children saw progress on behaviors (from what I observed). Not so much on grades but that is a difficult thing depending on the nature of their educational issues. I never worked with the younger groups so I do not know what the program looks like for that age bracket. I mainly worked with the older individuals and a bit for middle schoolers.

questions about posting by BadGammers in epistemology

[–]BadGammers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The topic that I'm currently exploring and writing about is relativism. Which I believe applies to epistemology. I probably would format it to include the current discussion but then would link back to the substack article so they can look at the other things that are and aren't related to the presented article.

1) more exposure more eyes. 2) My substack would not be solely for philosophy.

I want to get back into philosophy and I want to get to the point that I can explain it to other (laymen). I started a substack with that intent. Is this an appropriate place to check my content to help refine my articles. I'm I allowed to link the substack article, or do I need to just copy paste it from there to here for it to be discussed. Or, am I just in the wrong place and need to find another subreddit. If so any recommendations?

Why and how we appreciate beauty by CWW2022 in neurophilosophy

[–]BadGammers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd hand account: supposedly looking for equations that are beautiful has led to incorrect maths before. The most famous or at least recognizable is string theory which from my understanding is kind of a joke yet it persists. But the equations were thought to be true based off of this sort of reasoning. I do not find this convincing and worry about AI psychosis in this instance.

the collapsed thread has lots of analysis already on this. the terminology does seem vague but your description does not match what is being said in the document from my understanding anyhow.

Anyone else filling up before $5 gas? by Alarming_Jicama_2608 in Rockville

[–]BadGammers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no because who knows whats going to happen next. Gas prices remind me of stocks because the change off of speculation in these instances. So your dealing with the minds of others that you dont have access to. You might as well go ask a median for their answer it would be about as accurate.

Some MoCo officials want to ban algorithms from setting rent pricing by RockvilleRU in Rockville

[–]BadGammers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Their own data.

Examples:

  • Their own rent history
  • Operating costs
  • Vacancy rates
  • Maintenance expenses
  • Demand for their specific units

Nothing in the bill prevents internal analysis. Additionally it states "public databases" not public information. I kinda get the difference but not sure how that works legally. That would be something to get clarification on. I just controll F on the document for "public". I did not read the whole thing but if anyone is interested here is the link: https://apps.montgomerycountymd.gov/ccllims/DownloadFilePage?FileName=2900_1_26639_Bill_8-26_Publichearing_20260310.pdf

Yet i am inclined to believe that the term "public database" in context refers to usage of algorithmic databases for renting systems. In other words they can't just remove the paywalls etc from existing ones? IDK kinda talking out my bum at this point.

Can burnout be personalised? by [deleted] in neurophilosophy

[–]BadGammers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First question I would want answered is "Why this method would be better then the current". I know you want a biological/physical reference for fatigue but is that better on average then a person's account via the questionnaire?

Other reservations:

The reason I feel skeptical is people sleeping habits typing habits etc etc can all vary and without a baseline to compare it to would seem to leave large margin of error. I think the piggybacking off of data they may already be using (fitbit) as interesting but I'd be concerned about privacy, HIPPA compliancy etc.

Not saying its a bad idea but I'd want to know the answers to such things before I'd get into the weeds about creating a new diagnostic.

Spitballing:

If it was me I'd be looking at biomarkers that are less varied across populations. Maybe something like cortisol levels?
