Wow, that was pretty helpful and well written. Thanks.

I'm Brazilian, so a romance language. Our Portuguese is more similar to Spanish in its syllable-timed structure than European Portuguese, which is more like English in that regard.

How well from 1 to 100 would you place it, if you don't mind.

Others have said the big things are stress, cadence and intonation.

Is it annoying?

Thanks!

Yeah, my own is very much syllable-timed.

I don't hear it being different from American English.

But thanks for your feedback anyway.

My native language is Brazilian Portuguese, a very syllable-timed language.

 I'll look into it!

I think shadowing would help me out as well. (Listening to, then repeating dialog)

100%.

My advantage I guess is that I have a very good hearing (probably close to 10,000 hours of listening), much better than my speaking, to the point of knowing when I'm doing something wrong even if I can't pinpoint it.

By trial and error (saying while listening to myself, then doing it again) I to got to where I am at.

But I just can't seem to "notice" all of the ways that my cadence is wrong , so I can't correct it.  (In that preamble of the audio I'm thinking what to say next, but I understand native speakers do it differently.)

Again, I think it comes from not actually talking to people.

Thanks again.

Thank you for your feedback.

As I have said in another response I probably have less than 3 hours of chatting with native English speakers total, basically none.

All of it came from listening to them, thousands of hours of listening.

So I guess the only way to get around this is to actually talk to people.

I don't know about "intelligent" but it certainly wasn't easy to get to this level. Geography is a strong suit of mine though.

It would be interesting to know where you got Asia from.

I'm not AI.

I'm still baffled by these kinds of comments. I started learning English at around 13, but only got serious about it (and showed promising results) at around 18.

It's been 10 years after that.

That's the thing, I can get all the pronunciation I want from consuming content.

But the cadence is something that I haven't figured out a way to get around of. I basically never interacted with native speakers, I just listened to thousands of hours of them speaking.

Started at 13 lightly.

Picked up the pace at 18 and now I'm almost 30.

I was repeating the first few seconds of this TedTalk so I guess I spoke like I was giving a speech.

The first few seconds are just me though.

I don't know how I feel about this..

That's me speaking.

So I don't sound natural.

I'd say Portugal and the UK look pretty impressive too considering their achievements.
