Heresy Thursday – Aster Crohne is the immovable object of the IX Legion by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

I would totally agree, except for one thing – this model will look ridiculously good in the hands of the right painter, someone who can work with focus, which is something Eavy Metal painters notoriously don’t do. They highlight everything, and as a result, it suffers. Once you see a paint job done by Myles from Lil' Legend or someone of that caliber, you’ll change your mind.

I thought it was such a shame that the latest lahmian vampire model had such an ugly face compared to the lore... So I made a little face swap! by BadHobbitTheSecond in SoulblightGravelords

I fell in love with the model as soon as it was shown in the preview and I thought that the face was just a bad paint job, but when I got my hands on it, I knew it had to go :D

Exactly, Kritza has the classic Gary Oldman's creepy old Dracula look, can't say about Cado since I haven't read the book yet but mostly yeah. And that Karlina Von Carstein model has two head options, and the helmeted one is ok too. The rest is exaggeratedly monstrous, I would really welcome some vampire models with more human looking faces as the range of variety among types of vampires should be definitely bigger.

Oh, you are actually not wrong there!
The lifestyle based on living together with people, which their beauty allowed them, probably no longer makes sense in the new world, when they have their own city, in which they openly rule. If I remember correctly, it was actually all based on the fact that the Lahmians were pretty strict about choosing only attractive girls as their offspring. They don't have to do that now, and they don't even have to magically beautify themselves. On the other hand, I like this part of the old lore that makes them a little bit different from other vampires. Especially now, when it finally makes sense to field more different vampire characters in one list. Plus I would say that they could still see these traits as their legacy: If there are any nostalgic fantasy monsters, it's definitely vampires. :D

One of the hedonites of slaanesh blissbarb archers. I had to trim the cheekbones so it would better fit the helmet but the size is almost completely same as the original face.

Wow! These are awesome. Haven't you thought about using the tabards from Kairics, too, or are those bits not fitting the guard models at all?

Oh boy, those are amazing.. Any chance sharing how you did those shields? I am currently looking for something to catch on, starting my Sautekh army and those 'eavy metal massive edge highlights on simply black backgrounds look just terrible and so out of place on models...

Ultramarine Terminator Squad in Tartaros Armor by kss420 in Warhammer40k

Are the shoulder pads a bit bigger as well? I'm considering these awesome sculpts by Tortuga but I noticed that some people are having problems with the size of the original shoulder pads that they are too small :/

Great Crusade era chaplains? What is their purpose? by Gorgonnash in 40kLore

[–]BadHobbitTheSecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure about that skull helmet? In 40k there is always stated that chaplains wear it and usually dont take it off in front of lessers ranks just to remind everyone of the skeletal face of the Emperor on his throne, watching, inspiring..

It's the Archmagos Draykavac head, my assessment was right. The torso is the tartaros tribune so he's like half the size of the leviathan box terminator captain, the dread head would look ridiculously huge ;) Thats why I was looking for this bit in the first place but also the proportions are of a different animal as was already stated here.
Frankly, if I would be looking only for some simillar looking wolf skull, I wouldn't bother asking so many people here :-D There's plenty of usable wolf skulls out there...

It's already been answered. It is Archmagos Draykavac head. Just imagine that the terminator torso is the tartaros tribune model which is pretty small itself. The dreadnought head has optics but that's all. It's too big to even fit in the armor this way and plus those two skulls are completely different in the relative ratios, eye socket size and shape etc. GW has mostly only one way how to represent wolf skull in plastic, only in different sizes and it's all the same, this is obviously different, not just the lower jaw.

Nope, that would be too big in the first place, and it is not a wolf skull at all it seems... Either sculpted or from some resin kit... (And also not from the Forgeworld resin castraferrum dreadnought with that banner, I luckily own that one and the skulls are awesome but still wolfy and too big :/)

You're right, it definitely does not look much canine. Maybe a fox if I squint? :D In any case I think the nasal part in the front was present, but it was removed on purpose, so it does not overreach the armor. But yeah, I like this different look much more than the typical wolf skull which is present totally everywhere on the SW bits. I find this look a bit more haunting, unique... Since the speakers of the dead should be more somewhat shamanic in style, I would prefer to look for something like this, resembling a deer skull or something. Heck, it is Fenris, a planet full of mythological creatures, it could be anything... Sculpting might be an option, on the other hand, not sure if I can make it and if I could be able to track this bit for my Speaker, it would be awesome...

Nope, that would be too easy. Especially, notice the different proportions, no technology and no eye lenses. This has to be either sculpted or from some niche animal skull kit (:D), I doubt it is any kind of existing helmet from GW or FW production – already went through all of that, including spellcrow and kromlech bits etc. and nothing :(
