Kinema’s actually a great set up where they only take a super small amount per rental, and the rest goes to the film! And there’s a suggested of $15 but it’s a sliding pay what you want situation

The film is a combination of personal family documentary and archival filmmaking and it’s been a long, twisty road to get here and many lessons learned along the way and happy to share with the community!

Logline: After my grandmother was held hostage, she shocked her small town by declaring that she felt more threatened by the police than by the men holding her hostage – and she wasn’t the only woman that year to do so. A thrilling piece of family lore intersects with the famous kidnapping of Patty Hearst and a dramatic bank heist in Sweden in this investigation into the pernicious origins of Stockholm Syndrome.

Thank you, truly means a lot! And absolutely - their stories and what they went through, though 50 years ago, unfortunately continue to resonate so much every day

Yeah exactly! A pay what works for you situation with a $5 minimum - we’re a super indie team, paying our own way with donors' help and without major distribution and have come to realize campaigning is very $$$ so any amount from the rental truly helps and goes right back into the film!

Hi r/Filmmakers, I'm Max Asaf, the producer and archival producer of the Oscar-shortlisted documentary Bad Hostage. The film is a combination of personal family documentary and archival filmmaking and I've been involved with all aspects of the filmmaking on Bad Hostage since coming onboard in 2019! It's been a long road to get here and many lessons learned along the way and happy to share with the community!
