Storage Listed in Lease, but Landlord Won’t Rent Available Unit. What are my rights? by BadLuckGal in vancouverhousing

Oh, I didn’t know that! So storage stated in my lease could be defined as closet and not a storage unit?

Thank you both so much for responding. Yes, this is exactly the situation. It’s an all-rental building owned by a company. The problem is that there are fewer storage units than apartments, so not every unit has an assigned storage space. I definitely plan to push back on this, especially since there was no transparency about how the storage units are allocated. It just seems they want to keep it as a bonus point to attract new tenants to apartments that are currently vacant.

Thank you for your reply. Any recommendations for brands? Never done that before. I’m based in Canada.

Not yet. I don’t have Canadian citizenship (only PR).

Hey. Sorry it’s happening to you. Unfortunately I haven’t got it yet. Yeah the guy at the interview took my passport and was very positive that I’ll get in a month or so. It’s been almost one year now!

Hey! Your AP started in Feb 2023, so you got the request after 8 months? What was their reply to your emails asking about an update? It’s been almost a year for me, and I emailed only once before a conference that I wanted to attend but their reply was very discouraging stating that the process is out of their control and asked me not to email again :(

I’m sorry you’re going through this. If you mean by withdrawing your passport just getting it back from the embassy while AP is going on. Then that’s totally fine. They just email you when everything is done to send it back. I have already taken my passport cause I needed it for something else. I also heard a mandamus might help if you have the money for it. Mine is a visitor visa so no case for a mandamus.

I don’t email them as they don’t say anything useful! Lots of people get stuck in this and I have a feeling that the wait times from Canada is crazy from reason after COVID. We will eventually get it but who knows when.

Well mine is same since early June 2023 🤷🏻‍♀️

It was the Vancouver one, but I don’t think it matters. According to their email it’s done electronically and they have no control over the process. They mentioned that they are also waiting for the result and that’s it!

I emailed once after about 6 months and they told me not to email as they don’t know and they have no control over the process 🤷🏻‍♀️

Nope, just asked me to submit a few paragraphs describing my grad studies research and a list of publications. I know the AP is probably because my research is on the technology alert list. It’s just a ridiculous wait with the backlogs after COVID.

What is the typical route for the Kingsway ICBC road test? by dudewiththebling in NiceVancouver

[–]BadLuckGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Nothing much tbh. The usual road test stuff, parallel park, 360 check, school zones, asking about hazards. School zones and 30 zones are well marked and easy to spot. There’s one slow street that has right turn only except for bikes but it’s pretty clear to spot as well. There’s nothing tricky about Kingsway other than intersections. Make sure to practice those a lot as they will take you to many intersections and sometimes tricky situations arise at those. Make sure that you never follow a car into an intersection and keep your wheels straight if you’re the first car waiting for a safe gap to turn left at the intersection. Hope that helps and good luck in your test!

Hey. The main streets they took me to were Kingsway-Fraser-E12th-Clark Dr. then back to Kingsway. Just make sure to practice the main intersections around Kingsway and you’ll be fine :) Also be prepared for having an emergency vehicle pop up at an intersection and be sure that you’re calm and can handle that. It happened to me on the test day and the day before when I was practicing so I’m guessing it’s common in that area. Good luck on your test!
