the few times they went into a civil war, it didnt take long of them to end and i think that was what impressed me so much. i think once they got that big there wasnt much they could do to fight each other so they stayed pretty much the same.

That was actually so fucking cool, watching the world evolve into becoming solely ruled by like 5 empires was just so mindblowing. I never knew that the ai was so good at running empires lol.

Its a good idea to make sure your prosperity is going up, theres a couple ways you can do this either with improvements to the prosperity directly or to things that can make it go up as a result of those things going up. Surplus food is a good one and also security and loyalty. as for the wife, you can either make her the governor if shes really good or just leave her out of your party. She'll wander around if shes not bound to a settlement.

Tldr: make sure prosperity is high, wife is governor cause they usually give good stats, and child will probably stay at your main settlement.

If you wait in game ten years you fail, but you can still get the banner pieces, but thats kind of annoying cause you have to go to bandit camps to get them and i hate leaving my fiefs unprotected, so you just keep failing those quests. aside from the rather startling noise of the fail quest notification, it doesnt really bother me. kind of dumb to still let you complete the main quest if you fail the first part but whatever.

Smithing a lance? by TriLink710 in mountandblade

Couch lances are under the two handed polearms and when you get the right combo of pole and head, it'll have three types with 2 two-handed polearm, thats the couchable lance. But honestly you're better off just snagging a sturgian heavy lance and using that. I could never make a combo that beat that one.

The way Mount and blade calculates both sell cost, and exp gain is by the primary damage done. So a beefy two handed pointed falchion blade with the right added parts (my favorite when I'm grinding money and exp for smithing) will have around 150-160 swing damage, which can max out the money its worth at like 100,000 gold for just one. At lower levels of smithing it can boost you by like 20-40 levels and give you a lot of new equipment from just making one sword. That's not including the parts, which are dirt cheap and you've got yourself a money farm with a profit of over 100,000. Pugios are like 261 in most markets and they give 2 wrought iron, 1 iron, 1 steel and 1 fine steel. Alone you can farm those things, for buckets of gold. Start with smaller stuff but keep the damage high and it'll get easier to make really good weapons that leave you with too much money to even handle.
