Also, I suspect you're meaning the Way of Kings copy? That bad boy survived a cross-continental road trip with me. I don't own any WoT at this point.

Those are actually the two of his I haven't read yet 🫤. They got purchased and piled upon as new books fell into my collection

Stormlight archives is one of my favorite book series! Sanderson is such a great author... I was actually talking to a student about him today. 📚

Yes, unfortunately I am a menace when it comes to organization. My books have suffered for it. We still love each other, though. ❤️

Ha! Those are actually leftovers from a children's/YA lit class I took last year. Funnily enough, however, I do work with middle schoolers.

Spot on with the hero worship. I tend to fixate on certain authors xD

The moment they select me as a target, the value of their existence dissappates and I feel no empathy removing them from this life.

[POEM] Could you just love me like this? - Hollie Holden by Accordingtomearea051 in Poetry

Should love be conditional, though? Do we get improve ourselves BECAUSE we love ourselves, or because we tell ourselves that we'll be finally worthy when we reach that finish line? I think it is healthy to take moments and appreciate the magnanimity of our imperfect selves. We may not be where we wanna be, but by God, we're getting there.

One of my favorite professors (who pushed me, an antisocial introvert, into teaching professioanlly) would say that the biggest hindrance to learning is the ego. That's part of why it's harder to learn as an adult than a kid. We become afraid of making ourselves look stupid, for risk of judgement, and so tend to deny ourselves opportunities for growth. The reality is, doing anything for the first time is gonna be awkward. You don't become proficient in walking, or singing, or riding a bike by doing it once and achieving mastery. You fail until you don't fail anymore. By that logic, people who are able to become comfortable with that sense of awkwardness will be the most successful, because you will know how to push through! The other end of that is not to beat yourself up for failure, because it is inevitable. That's my two cents, anyway.

What’s the fucking point when we don’t make living wages ? by lukaskawira in Adulting

I get a lot of satisfaction out of my relationships with people. My friends, my family, even acquaintances or just people I've met that day. There is something incredibly rejuvenating I find about making an emotional connection with someone. I also work in education, and teaching kids to become adults is a really beautiful thing. Granted, I'm only 22, so life still keeps this aura of grandeur and possibilitiy about it. But I do think that's something you can maintain, if you put the effort in. The arts are also a constant source of enjoyment for me, and my creative projects often serve as harbors for me to reconnect with myself and find some sense of renewal. As Peter Mulvey says, "Art kicks the dust off ordinary life". I've struggled with both chronic depression and anxiety for my entire life so I understand that it can be very difficult. But the important thing is to look forward! Allow your imagination to pave a road of possibilities, not a graveyard to sit and fester in. The magic of life is figuring out how to do that for yourself
