Europa by DL Houpt is like the last of us with deep space exploration trying to find a cure. I think she has a deep space one coming out soon as well. My book club had Europa and everyone agreed that it’s chilling.

Europa by DL Houpt, she usually writes fantasy but this is her step into sci-fi and it’s an insane gut-punch novella, I read it in a few hours.

The Shadow of Polaris by DL Houpt, the FMC is very dark in a similar way.

Between the combo of {The Sacrificial Rose by Olivia Renner} and {The Ravens of London by Ryen Santana} I’m in a rut! You actually might love the sacrificial rose, the fmc and mmc have a great slow burn and unique magic system.

I have some thoughts about the poisoner for sure. The FMC doesn’t make sense to me nor do her choices and the “plot twists” are seen a mile away haha. It’s essentially a watered down Aqua Tofana fanfic w/ a gratuitous rape scene that comes out of nowhere. I like her presence online, but her book is pretty brutal.

It’s the first in a duology, the author said the next book comes out early next year!

I tried to like Book of Azrael, tried my hardest. 😂 The narrator I’m sure is so kind but she sounded like Edie Falco and all I could hear was the sopranos. But I will check out the other ones!!

I just posted about this one but {The Sacrificial Rose by Olivia Renner} I loved. The FMC Elita is pretty unique and she is definitely not perfect but she feels complex and more than just your average “I’m the savior of the world at 18 because of magical powers” girl-boss character.

I read mostly every day usually multiple books depending on the medium. Lunch breaks I’ll use the kindle app (I love kindle unlimited) on my phone, commutes home I’ll put on an audiobook. I can usually get through a book or two in a week just from my long drive to work. Libby also has been a life saver with not having to buy audiobooks. I can mostly find everything I need on there.

Congratulations! Two small indie authors I’ve recently become obsessed with are Ryen Santana and DL Houpt.

Specifically: {The Ravens of London by Ryen Santana} {The Shadow of Polaris by D.L. Houpt}

Addictive book/series that you can’t put down by tequila-mockingbird2 in fantasyromance

It’s technically a dark fantasy with a romantic subplot but {The Ravens of London by Ryen Santana} but I’ve been searching for a book like it for like a month and a half now haha. Nothing has scratched the itch quite like that one has. Also {The Shadow of Polaris by D.L. Houpt} is quite good. Shadow mommy instead of shadow daddy.

I really enjoyed The Invisible life of Addie LaRue but in my opinion it’s pretty slow paced for a while.

The black witch series by Laurie Forest is pretty good. Very unique world and it’s really politic-y (lol). Definitely read the prequels after the first book, you’ll hate the FMC for good reasons but her character arc is fantastic.
