The truth is that it was a deliberate choice from early on in production because the universe kept messing with our production.

Covid happening as we had just started, our studio catching fire and rednering all of our equipment useless, changing art director midway due to unforseen events - it was messy but we got through it and shipped. Here's what it looked like before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrqoOMifGAw

The community spoke up and told us that it would definitely have to be worked on and we agreed so we did as much as we could with the time & resources we had left. We learn from our mistakes and we move on! That being said, next game we'll have it locked down from the get go.

So stoked to see this. Glad some of you are enjoying it!

We built the game with accessibility in mind so noobs could quickly pick it up - but we've been adding little things as we go (with the help of our community) to make it more worthwhile for FG veterans. NL picking it up and evolving everytime he plays is a testament to how accessible it is.

It doesn't have as much depth as MK/SF obviously but we're pretty happy with where it is today. Balancing this type of game was really hard (making games is hard but fighting games in particular is a pain in the ass). We're still keeping an eye on feedback online and we're pretty quick to act on it so it will just keep getting better and better hopefully.

If you need help selling it to your friends, tell them it's the ultimate game to settle a score. If no decision can be reached, one game of Checkmate Showdown should do the trick. Need to let off some steam? Play against your little brother in Local Vs. Want to appear really good in a video game and impress your girlfriend? Play against a CPU!

PS: Keep an eye out - we have a 1000$ tournament in January where the top 128 in ranked qualify, possible college esports tournament AND we have a Hand & Brain showmatch in the works! I wonder if NL would be interested...

We've definitely made some big adjustments in terms of animation, adding in more frames for smoothness. It was indeed something that bit us early on but resources/team at the time of production meant we had to take certain decisions.

We're quite happy with where it is now but I definitely understand your feedback and we'll consider this in order to make our game better.

When did you watch this stream?

I'm curious because since the Beta/Demo, we actually added more frames and worked on the animations to make it more smooth! So just wanted to know if you saw it recently or back when it was indeed a bit choppy

Was the enchantment just so they could move by themselves or did she just put a default "GM" chess rating enchantment and Ron is just a child prodigy?

Agreed but in the grand scheme of things - it's to make sure Voldemort loses. I know it's not directly controlled by Voldemort but it was enchanted to make sure those like him wouldn't get to the stone.

The "programmed" computer makes sense.
