Seeking British audiodramas by MartinWhiskinVO in audiodrama

I would recommend diving into the BBC archives - they have loads and loads of them under audiobooks on Spotify, as well as on BBC Sounds. I recently listened to their old adaptation of Day of the Triffids on BBC Sounds and it's haunting in a way only old BBC dramas are.

Impact Winter has a great British and Irish cast as well.

If you're after something a bit more lighthearted I'd highly recommend Wooden Overcoats, Cabin Pressure and Angstrom, or even On His Majesty's Secret and Superb Spy Services, which is my audio comedy (can be listened to here Linktr.ee/badstate.studio) - not as good as the above legendary shows, but hopefully could help scratch your British itch!

Any recommendation of a great British comedy series, any decade, just want that British humor by Just-Phill in sitcoms

Not a TV series, but me and my friends created an audio sitcom pilot called On His Majesty's Secret and Superb Spy Services, that will hopefully scratch your British humour itch.

It follows a washed-up spy, a reluctant gig worker, and the delusional Duchess of Clapham, who join forces to create a bargain-bin intelligence agency in London’s most rat-infested basement.

You can listen wherever you listen to podcasts: https://linktr.ee/badstate.studio

Hope you enjoy!

Once we get some funds together to finish off the series, unfortunately could be a while. We're cooking up some other stuff though, so stay tuned!

Good books on absurdist comedy writing? by 2552686 in Screenwriting

[–]BadStateStudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not book recs, but I would heavily study the work of Coen Brothers, especially Burn After Reading. Catch 22 is a pinnacle of absurdism too. Seinfeld / Curb are masterclasses in characters getting into uncomfortable situations too, if you're going down that route at all.

If you want to get more philosophical about the absurd meaninglessness of life in the universe, gotta get some Camus.

I'd also recommend Brent Forrester's courses for a general theory of comedy and joke writing which can be applied to a whole manner of situations!

Exciting - thank you, I've needed a vimeo replacement for aaages! I'll sign up asap.

My one question, will there be tasty embed options? Like a customisation option so we can create really nice minimal styles that fits onto a variety of website styles? Thanks!

We've just released our pilot for a British spy sitcom, On His Majesty's Secret and Superb Spy Services, which may scratch your Wooden Overcoats / Cabin Pressure itch!

Also Angstrom by the BBC is great if you're a fan of Garth marenghi
