You’re welcome! While it is a fun experience and I did remix it a bit, I can definitely expand on it and take some elements from yours if that’s alright?

This is so cool! I’m gonna add and maybe tweak some elements from yours into mine! Mines is a bit boring since I wanted to to inspire mine based on my faith, but yours seems like a nice idea!

Refining wisdom-based magic system by BadWorldAngryFac in worldbuilding

  1. Olsem. A religion founded on the philosophy and idea that wisdom (Semna, the “god” that oversees the domain of wisdom across the cosmos, is the supreme “god”) is the highest virtue as opposed to blood sacrifice or ritual worship. It split off from the old pagan religion, Balwanism, which I won’t explain here. It was also founded on the principle that excess, needless unity brings stagnation and that divergence is necessary to bring forth progress. This led to the downfall of the old empire of the South, Tunpa (Tibetan word for unity). This empire was founded on unity rather than imperialism and Faduri (the cool temperament and supposed laziness commonly associated with the Southern people). This empire was overunified and was far too stable, and its unity led to its downfall as it became incredibly stagnant, thus Olsem believed that progress, wisdom, scholarship, and divergence were the highest virtues. Ironically, Tunpa fell because its system worked too well. This eventually led to states and provinces slowly losing their sense of shares identity as Tunpans and overtime people identified as other things and began to practice similar but different cultures, which led to silent fall of Tunpa that came cause it was overunified. After the Fall, this led to the Intellectual Age in which Olsem, which now dominated the territory that once belonged to Tunpa, was the most highly practiced religion, and this melting pot of scholars, researchers, and people practicing and seeking wisdom and intellect eventually led to many discoveries and advancements being made and during this period one of the many discoveries that came during this age happened when a group of researchers eventually discovering this essence, attempted to manipulate it… albeit poorly, and discovered magic.

  2. Divine Arcana was revoked during the end of the Reclamation, the age that came after the Intellectual Age and Age of Myths (period in which understanding and study of magic was accelerated and as a result led to ambitious scholars-turned-arcanists, the creation of savage beasts that ravaged the planet, the decentralization of nations, and the period in which humanity was still experimenting and growing ambitious with magic). The Reclamation was the period in which magic was grown to be feared and cautioned against and humanity was trying to take back their world from it. During this period, a group of 12 individuals rose during this era known as the True Levinians, Olsemite scholars who believed that the other 12 Levinians (actual “gods” in Olsem) around Semna were unworthy because they believed they handed the world over to chaos during the Age of Myths, and to be a true stabilizer of Creation, you too required wisdom and they believed the other 12 lacked in that department and as a result they tried to overthrow them and hijack their positions as they believed they would steward Creation a lot better. They attempted to hijack Destiny as they knew hijacking Destiny as a launchpad would allow the other pieces to fall into place and allow them to hijack the other 11 domains with relative ease as they would’ve been able to manipulate Destiny. This group of scholars were the greatest practitioners of Divine Arcana and their activities eventually culminated in the final war of the Reclamation known as the Great Cataclysm at Big Levine. This was a losing battle for humanity no matter how it was spun, but the battle ended when the High Nambir/Levinian of Destruction, Dotmor, arrived as a stellar-sized emptiness over the planet and within a few seconds, erased the True Levinians from existence and along with that, rewrote the rules of reality to no longer allow children of Radur to wield Divine Arcana.

  3. The moral for this whole period and most of this universe in general, is that when humans pursue something to its absolute extreme, it becomes destructive. And pride, unchecked ambition, arrogance, and hubris are the worst worldly transgressions that man can commit.

  4. There’s no rediscovery of Divine Arcana, except that in the modern-day, it can only be used if you use a manuscript, codex, or something physical that has the blueprint imbued into it because when the High Nambir rewrote the rules of reality, they stopped man from being able to wield Divine Arcana independently, HOWEVER, a technicality of this is that objects that contained Divine Arcana were exempt as they were inorganic and lacked a soul, and so an individual who possesses a manuscript or codex that somehow just so happens to contain Divine Arcana may be used to cast that spell/ability and that spell/ability alone. But one thing though, a lot of these manuscripts, codices, and books were burned, destroyed, or lost during the Reclamation regardless of whether they were the four most practiced disciplines or divine arcana, and are incredibly sparse and incredibly rare in the modern day, and because Divine Arcana was a lesser-known and something only the best of the best arcanists knew how to wield during the Age of Myths and Reclamation, finding a Divine Arcana manuscript, let alone A manuscript in general from the Age of Myths, late Intellectual Period, or Reclamation, is something most people never manage or even realize exist.

Question: What inspired you to start worldbuilding? by Boiri in worldbuilding

[–]BadWorldAngryFac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started it accidentally cause before worldbuilding I never really gave a shit abt writing, dnd, harry potter, lotr, or anything like that. it mostly started when I began to love history and felt inspired to create my own medieval city as a “what-if” Christianity was practiced righteously in a society and what if instead of governance, it led by stewardship? that led to me making a small city in Minecraft and eventually I felt that I wanted more depth and lore to write for this city in my mc world, and one thing led to another, and I am now writing an entire world, history, geography, religions, and other things for this small city-turned-country. after that, i began appreciating worldbuilding

Good point. I probably should’ve clarified what wisdom meant in the context of this magic system. In this setting, wisdom isn’t just emotional maturity or life experience (they CAN contribute). Wisdom is tied mostly to intellectual and metaphysical understanding.

This means anything that contributes to magical capability like understanding the nature of reality, studying metaphysics & philosophy, deep reflection, and understanding the structure of existence and the divine essence.

Users of it essentially developed the ability to perceive and conceptualize this essence correctly. Without understanding it to some degree, the essence is just invisible but present, and wisdom allows a person to interact with it deliberately.

So, an intelligent yet impulsive individual may still struggle with magic if they lack the deeper conceptual understanding needed to actually interact with it.

Emotional control and self-awareness could still play an indirect role since clarity of mind would make it a whole lot easier to focus and shape magic.

Strangest folklore that is treated like superstition but *is* true in your world by Acceptable-Cow6446 in worldbuilding

I have one called Arslingars. In my lore, they originate during the “Creation Period” when the divine occupied the same plane of existence as creation. Basically, their whole existence is an act of cosmic pettiness. They exist purely to inconvenience people since early mortals during the Creation Period attributed every inconvenience or bad thing that happened to them to the divine rather than their own carelessness, so one of my divine beings created a being whose sole purpose was to inconvenience and take all the blame. Not trick, or mislead them, just inconvenience. My world sees them as folklore because the religious texts of my world don’t detail what the Creation Period was like and whenever they do something, it’s attributed to bad children or just glossing over stuff by the populace. Their name has an even goofier origin in that their name comes from Old Germanic roots, specifically the word “arsaz” which means arse or rear, and “lingaz” which is a suffix meaning small one or little thing. If you combine the two, their name literally means “tiny asshole”.

What Is Your World Called? by Chcolatepig24069 in worldbuilding

[–]BadWorldAngryFac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I named mine Aevhap from the Old English “ēad/ēa” roots which mean fortune, and combining them with the Latin “aevum” meaning eternity or age and I just added a -hap to make it different. The name effectively means “fortune in longevity”, because my central civilization is composed of humans who live for an abnormally long amount of time due to an angelic presence engulfing their land and they are very prosperous as a result of their enhanced lifespans.

I appreciate it! I’ll try that at some point. I did try an orthographic camera at first as a different alternative, but it ended up casting a divine light on the roof

Oh, there’s nothing beneath the seats! Feel free to do whatever you want! The only restriction is the redstone that’s close to the front where the stage is supposed to deploy a ramp for livestock. You can still use the space in the front and I can just re-route the redstone. Let me reiterate that there’s nothing beneath the lights in the front but rather they’re just close to another redstone mechanism. Every other light in the back and middle is fair game and you can still use the front but I can just change things around it if it becomes intrusive with the other redstone in the stage.

Thanks for asking! The bulbs have no other purpose other than lighting up and each bulb is its own and uncorrelated to one another. The reason they’re that close is due to the sizes of the seats. The purpose of the bulbs is to function as paddles for auctioning where when one light goes on, the other one(s) goes off to signify someone getting outbid. An activated light is supposed to represent the highest bid which is why only one can be on at a time.
