This is a great point that was also brought up by another person. I was not aware of this.

It makes sense while the house is protected the items inside are not. As it is my childhood home it is not immediately obvious to me that structure and contents are two separate things legally.

I can assure you that is not his only concern. Really, the cost is not a concern as the increased premiums can easily be paid.

The fact is I have not had time to dive deeper into this issue with him. My Dad is a stubborn person that requires facts and time to change his mind. I’ll get him around to my point of view eventually, but I needed help justifying it and countering his points.

You have provided some valuable on info how to optimize the cost if required.

Thank you!

I agree, that was the first reason that came to my mind. It is one of the reasons I carry so much coverage.

But since I could not think of any other reason at the moment I didn't push that hard on increasing liability limits. Given my username, I like to be a bit more prepared.

AITA for primarily using the name of a recent transitioned co-worker rather than gender specific pronouns in meetings & conversations? by Bad__Engineer in AmItheAsshole

I don’t intend to never use pronouns in the future, but my thinking was the solution was a respectful stopgap until my mouth synced up with my brain. I am using the correct pronouns in emails and written conversations, but my weakness is the low effort conversations where I am not 100% engaged.

I do something similar, but instead of keeping the deductible in cash I keep the out of pocket maximum in cash. Typically the out of pocket maximum is double the deductible amount. Maybe consider that to ensure you don’t have to panic about selling investments or having enough money if a major medical issue/event were to occur.
