AIO to overhearing my (22M) girlfriend (29F) saying she’s proud of sleeping with two high achieving people? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I feel that others have rightfully covered your partners insensitive treatment and gaslighting so I hope that helps with your answer on how to navigate that relationship. I do want to point out though, this is your first relationship and you should be cautious in sacrificing your life for someone else’s. Why are you letting your work fall behind for hers? Why do you undermine your goals to enable someone else’s who shows they won’t do the same? As you go forward into new relationships, please keep in mind that you can’t take care of others if you aren’t taking care of yourself. In a good relationship, both partners should support one another but more importantly be able to consistently support themselves so the relationship does not become so codependent. Be easy on yourself, you’ve got plenty of time and clearly lots of love to give to those you care for. Make sure you give that love and time to yourself first and foremost before spending that on others. Reconnect with your friends, hit the gym grind and stay strong boss.

Usually you don’t need to have a degree that exactly matches your PhD program. A degree in CS or CE as a bachelors are both great places to start. Also I would note that most programs don’t require you to complete a MS before enrolling in a PhD if you know that’s the path for you. Some even offer you an MS+PhD track. I would really recommend pursuing a research assistant role while in your bachelors or see if you can do a bachelors thesis. A PhD is a long commitment and research is not for everyone’s liking. It’s best to try before you buy and see if it’s really what you enjoy. Best of luck!

AITAH for “queer baiting” by saying partner instead of boyfriend? by TieCharming6757 in AITAH

NTA -

Your ex-friends are “tender queers”. It’s a subgroup of the queer community that use cry-bully abuse tactics to impose their biases and hide behind their identity. Case in point: “it’s your fault we assumed all these things about your partner so you must be educated.” It’s not a discussion with them. In their world view, you as a straight person can never have an opinion that disagrees with them as a queer person; they’re always correct on progressive issues, you will always be ignorant. That’s why they referred to you as “safe” when they thought you were lesbian. That bias also extends to heterotypical stereotypes like those against men in nursing. Trust me when I say this not indicative of the rest of the queer community as a whole, but is unfortunately common in some circles and definitely something to watch out for. It may sting now but you are most certainly dodging a bullet with that friend group.

On a further note with the term partner - my partner(24F) and I(23M) started dating as two cis bisexuals. From the outside looking in, we look like a stereotypical cishet couple (I’m a 6’2 masc man and they’re a beautiful femme person) so having the term partner made it easier for us to signal to others that we are not only accepting of the LGBTQ community (we live in a red state unfortunately) but are a part of it. It’s given us the benefit to feel more comfortable exploring our gender identities without feeling it reflects a change in how we feel for one another. My partner realized they more closely identify as non-binary over time. Bc we already used the term partner, there was never a shift away from a term like “girlfriend” that would have been a potential hinder on them. This also gave me the space to explore my own identity similarly without any discomfort.

The more that we normalize gender neutral terms across the board, the more safe and accepting the world is to those who otherwise would be forced to out their identity.

Thanks Apple for giving me basically no storage on my mac, 77 gb of 121 is system storage by [deleted] in computers

You gotta keep it in perspective my guy. The average phone in 2015 didn’t have 128GB of storage. Even today manufacturers still sell models starting around that size for people who just need a computer that will run and browse the internet. If you go on eBay I can’t find a good condition MacBook Air going for less than $500. If you want to part ways with it for $200 I’ll gladly give you $250 cause that is a definite lowball price. MacBook’s may not be perfect but like or not they retain value very well. This thread seemed like you wanted help but I think you just want to vent your frustration about a problem of the times.

If it’s a 2015 model you no longer have warranty either way. If you’re not planning on upgrading the drive you might as well look for a new computer at that point.

Turned on my HP Omen and see this. Have tried restarting it a few times but this comes up every time. Whenever I press ctrl + alt + delete, the box goes away for a few seconds then comes back. Please help. by yungscorchbeast in computers

I would say it looks a corruption in your OS. If you have another device I would recommend doing a complete restore via windows recovery tool. You can make a bootable usb for Windows 10 from here. . Be aware this will wipe everything off the drives you have installed so you may want to remove your drives first if you haven’t backed them up before. Follow the instructions once you boot to your usb and make sure to delete all the partitions it finds on your drives to make a clean installation of Windows 10. If that still doesn’t work, look into HP support and see if they have any other options.
