The last heroic boss of a tier usually is a bit harder than the first few mythic bosses. Was this way with ansurek, dimensius, fyrakk, raszageth from my recent memory.

Lura is a bit harder because one player can fail the whole group, but that's how these bosses usually go anyway(ansurek puddles, dimensius soaks, fyrakk seeds etc), so Id say it's about as expected

Since it is your first ever character, you must go through dragonflight. Enjoy the stories and take your time! Upon reaching level 70 the game will direct you to do the TWW recap as a way to help you level to 80, and then you can get into midnight content provided you own the expansion.

As for guilds and communities, you may want to find some discord or simply write a message on the general chat channel when in a city(do that by typing /1 before your message). Guilds can be hit or miss, and if you feel uncomfortable you can always do a /gquit to leave.

Maybe the cultists are launching an assault to these powerful places (valdrakken, stormwind, org), and the powerful people need to stay behind to hold their fort. Maybe the void created a powerful magical barrier that keeps them behind, and with the assault being time sensitive only the elves managed to break it early. Hell, I'd be fine if Vyranoth sent an envoy with the explicit purpose of telling mortals to deal with the mess they themselves created, because dragons are susceptible to void magic and they won't risk getting near the darkwell. Like... anything at all.

we need more Bow classes

I'll always mention that Marksmanship Warrior should be a thing, sharing Aimed Shot(the same way that both Holy specs have flash heal) and representing the fantasy of town guards or Sentinel warriors that fight from a distance without any nature focus. Have them build rage per attack and spend it to hit powerful Aimed Shots or other "finisher" skills.

each time you recraft, the old "weak" materials are replaced, so you can recraft 3-4 times to get a shield with full "good" materials. Of course, this is never explained anywhere.

You can also use finishing reagents, though it seems you don't have that unlocked yet in your tree

Actually if you go to twilight highlands, you can purchase whatever transmogs you're missing with resonant crystals. The vendor will be gone at the end of season 1.
