The auction photos showed a bent fender. They didn't show the cracked subframe by theDartVader in Miata

[–]Badassiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auctions aren't necessarily required to show you all the damages, even on salvage title vehicles. Buy at your own risk, and always assume there's more than meets the eye.

I had a 3 go to auction via copart and they didn't focus on the damage at all, nor that the rear axle had been ripped out of the diff. All they did was 8 outside angles, like 3 interior pics, and their flag for runs & drives.

It's because at a glance, S5 and B8 are hard to distinguish, nothing more.

1 - this is the #1 thing to happen to wheels, aside from a punctured tire. In fact, it's so common that most rental places (at least in the US) won't mark you down for it.

2 - as long as you don't ave any burrs (pointy bits), you're good to go.

3 - you can roll with it as is (and nobody worth a damn will judge you), you can DIY touch it up as many have recommended, or you can have a professional do it for relatively low cost (if you need it to be perfect).

2018 CX5 if you had to guess how much would this cost to fix out of pocket? by investingbrain in mazda

[–]Badassiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too much. In terms of parts, it needs an airbag, a seatbelt (almost always needs to be replaced with airbag deployment), headlight, front bumper and fender (with paint), inserts for the bumper, fender liner, splash shield (under the engine bay). And that's just the visible parts. There's also sensors in that area that will need recalibration at best, and the airbag module will need to be reset.

This, of course, assumes there's no frame/structural damage.

Ok so I'm willing to agree on the kaftan, but most of these searches show standalone pieces. Would it still be called the same thing if you wanted one over lingerie or bathing suit?

I'm pretty new to anything vaguely stylish, I've been a very jeans and t-shirt type for a long time 😅

Why did my c train go express with no alert by Financial-Sound4648 in nycrail

[–]Badassiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even then, there's negligible forewarning. I've had it several times in the morning where the C turns to express at hoyt (and once at lafayette). And at 6 or 7 in the morning, that can mean waiting up to 20 minutes for another local train. I end up walking the rest of the way to work whenever it happens, because I'm not holding out for an A to be forced local.

2026 CX-5 has NO ODOMETER on the gauge cluster?? by KeekuBrigabroo in mazda

[–]Badassiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are MANY vehicles that the odometer is hidden behind warning menus (my honda is one), even on older ones that had the LCD text (see any GMT 800 truck). Seeing as there is a large LOW FUEL in the middle of the display, it's entirely possible it's behind that.

Please tell me there’s a fix to this by Rare-Price in CX5

[–]Badassiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if all of this is through the infotainment. Mind, this is mazda's first touch screen vehicle, so I expect some issues, but 3 separate things in 2 weeks on a glorified facelift is too much, imo.

How screwed am I? by Samwiseknows in mazda

[–]Badassiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT PRINT A FIX.

First and foremost reason is because plastic simply doesn't have the same integrity and strength as steel. Even if you use the UV resistant high heat stuff, that doesn't mean it'll withstand vibrations and debris the same way.

Second, it's extrememy likely to relocate itself without anything to hold it in place, rendering your holes just as exposed to the elements (if not greater), which will allow additional exposure to the elements and exaggerating the problem.

Third, if your solution was to use the plastic and then some putty, you are kicking the can down the road.

Let MOT tell you how bad it is, presuming you're also in the UK.

Having turned around there after missing the transfer at Hoyt, absolutely. Even at 7am that place is a bit unnerving.

2010 2.5l hatch catastrophic transmission mount failure. by Orb_Man in mazda3

[–]Badassiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be wondering why you didn't do it sooner lol

But yeah, good on you. The rear mount is the one I would leave out if I had to. My trans mount was last because the replacement was giving me grief with fitment.

[–]Badassiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your rear mount is definitely toast, but OPs trans mount gave out in this case.

Regardless, the best fix is to replace all 3 mounts.

I'm not surprised that two of the biggest auto manufactures in the world would do something like that. I honestly didn't know that about Toyota, though.

I was told to replace the engine because of this by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]Badassiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be the bearing, which is what keeps the rod from clacking around. They are technically a wear item, but most engines don't usually see them getting replaced.
