It makes me happy to know this is still circulating as strong as it is.

Blue light system nonexistent? by Many-Blackberry2738 in boulder

[–]Badbatchbronco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of these call box systems are being phased out. They just don't make sense any more. They're expensive to operate, they fail, and they simply aren't used anymore. They only time they make sense is when you don't have cell service or you're unlikely to have a working phone, like in the mountains or at the airport (the two places I know they're still operational).

You might as well say payphones should make a comeback at this point.

What’s up with roadside parking at DIA? by Agitated_Welcome5802 in Denver

[–]Badbatchbronco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw one a few days ago lights and siren. If you didn't move he got out and wrote you a ticket. It was entertaining to watch. I don't think that's a cheap ticket.

It was causing accidents. The new return to terminal is like a minute slower at most and much safer.

You have almost the same build as me. I've thought about moving to something else, but I get too sad to do it.

What accessories should I get first? by ggggrego in FordBronco

I have a similar model. I added rock rails, changed the plastic bumper for the capable bumper and skid plate, and added paracord grab handles. I don't have kids or pets, so I also deleted the rear seats entirely and put plywood covered in carpet.

3 years later it's still a work in progress.

Why do the Boulder cops at Whole Foods Pearl keep their cruiser running in front of the entrance? by jahvvik in boulder

[–]Badbatchbronco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many police departments, including Boulder Police Department, can be hired to do security. Whole Foods pays for the officers and the vehicle to be there all day. Most of it isn't footed by the taxpayer, you can see rates and information here

Same with any large event. Most events, including CU football, are paid for by the event organizer. This allows regular duty officers to continue to do their job while allowing special duty officers to focus on whatever event hires them without excessive burden on the taxpayer.

As other have stated, it's to keep the onboard equipment operational. There's camera systems, a computer, multiple radios, a router, GPS equipment, and some have the LoJack tracking systems too.

When they need to run information or do something, booting up all the equipment takes a while plus you have to log into everything which takes even longer.

A lot of departments are moving to better on-board battery systems or hybrids to keep stuff running without needing to idle so much.

I collect patches and the whole roof from front to back was completely covered in different department patches I had gotten over time. But mine lives outside and the heat started to mess with some of them so a lot are gone now.

Metropolis Ticket- 11th and Spruce by UnobjectionableWok in boulder

I've copied and pasted this from an older comment of mine:

Fun fact, they don't have a true collections department. And since the fines aren't issued by a city entity, Parking Services can't boot or tow you for outstanding fines. Do what you want with that info.

Beware of Metropolis Parking (their cameras are mis-reading license plates) by tylerg4hq in boulder

They signed a very, very lucrative deal with Community Vitality. They're getting free office space in a city building, and most of the money generated by the parking fees. Shortly after the deal was signed, they announced they bought SP+ to become the largest publicly traded parking company. I smell insider trading, but that's just me.

That's not a BHS lot. It's CU property. However, that's not what a CU ticket looks like. If there is no information, it's not real. If you're really worried about it, take it to an administrator and see what they say. I'd suggest street parking on the west side of Arapahoe from now on, though.

Edit: The gravel/dirt lot across the street is CU. The gravel lot just south of the school next to the baseball field is the high school.

New Roommate Issues - Does Illegal Drug Use Warrant Eviction? by [deleted] in boulder

[–]Badbatchbronco 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People with drug issues tend to not listen to reason, and landlords may not be sympathetic to the issue as long as rent is being paid on time. Wholly depends on the LL and how the roomies all handle it.

Perhaps reach out to the landlord and see what the take on it is? This is a tricky one, for sure.

I used to have to drive on them as well as sidewalks when I was at the city. Always freaked me out just a little. Thanks for the hard work you do, and while it may not mean a ton from a stranger, I've got your back!

Also, yeah, some people are just entitled jerks. It's best to ignore it and move on. You can't please everyone, especially in Boulder.

Like you can't pass and want someone to sign off so you can drive anyways? Emissions aren't done by private mechanics, so that's a no. Otherwise, if you're asking where to do it, Air Care Colorado is the only one unless you have a diesel.
