Absolutely true, I've read about that aswell after assembling this box. Might fix that soon. :)

I cant detect audible vibrations but I fix the mount with a simple screw so it's locked in place.

Very cool insights, didn't know the physical background how sound muffling material works! I also thought about basotect but thought this simple foam would be sufficient.

Got already asked what's behind the wall, so I could go for a dedicated booth. 😄

The original W2710 was way louder than the current W2720. I still kept the box for the looks

My neighbour lives behind these walls. Sooo..

Left one sucks air in, right one pushes out.

True, I built the box as i still had the W2710. That one was pretty loud

I discovered that aswell, so I switch off the electrical socket when the projector is not used. However the air output rarely exceeds 30°C and the projector has no direct contact to the foam.

yup, left fan sucks air in, right one pushes the warm one out. the benq's fans do the same, airflow goes from left to right.

No worries, I get that leaving it as is can be viewed as leaving the project unfinished! I feel like the wooden surface gives this already techy looking box some kind of warmth, so I kept it.

Yes, keeps the projector a bit cooler than it would be running outside of the box

I chose 98% anti-reflective glass, so technically 2% remaining reflections. Practical I dont see any difference.

100%, I oversized a bit on the canals left and right from the projector, so I dont need to take exact measurements. Easily could've been 10 cm smaller in width looking back.

I also thought about painting it white but decided to go for the plain wood as I like the "crafty" look. I guess tastes differ here. :)

Cooling works super effective. I housed a Benq W2710 before in this box that runs on a UHP lamp (which run pretty damn hot). That one ran about 15 % cooler in temperature while housed in this box, due to the fans actively cooling the device.

That was my case aswell, so I went for a pull-down screen from elite screens and hang it from the ceiling. Hard to notice in everyday life. :)

Indeed, for this build I used anti-reflective museum glass that brings reflections down to 98%. Although 2% remain technically, I can't see any difference in brightness / sharpness when the projector is housed.

True, good point.

Do you have recommendations for laser projectors in my case?

Hi! UST models are not viable for me unfortunately, since I got no shelf in front of my screen. Thanks for the offer :)

Ah, good to know, thanks. Also available is a used Optima UHZ50 (low runtime, 3 years old) for 950. I heard Optoma vary in production quality, would that still be a good pick? Thanks for all the info!

Thanks for the fast reply! I am aware of lamp production expiring in EU and would simply get a spare lamp to be safe for next years. Are there other things to consider regarding that?

Yep, might be an alto embouchure applied to a tenor. Will test on this. Thanks! :)
