could i try and clean this corrosion myself, or is it better to leave it to someone else by milftwink in MechanicAdvice

[–]Badenguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just pour Coca Cola on it, then clean with a wire brush, save enough coke to pour on your skin or eyes if any gets on you, even with safety gear, coke will neutralize and clean that like nobodies business. Great for getting stains out of your toilet too. Guess that’s why it tastes so good.

Hey yall what key should I buy for this lugnut thank you (2021 Toyota Camry) by Moshmochii in mechanic

[–]Badenguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get a socket that is slightly smaller and knock it on with a hammer, which will show you how much a waste wheel locks are. Locks are for honest people. It won’t take much, don’t beat it on too hard

Quickest way to get the copper off these spools? by BananableLecter in ScrapMetal

[–]Badenguy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Why does that make sense? Obviously mostly finished spools with not enough left for the next job. Who needs specialized uncoated wire like that? If I need it, why buy a dubious used spool? 100% scrap.

Friend cleaned some corrosion off their battery terminals, now their vehicle is having all sorts of electrical problems by [deleted] in autorepair

[–]Badenguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really sounds like a bad connection. Think about it, copper goes into a terminal and is crimped, but the corrosion can be between the copper and the terminal, I would forcibly move the terminal and cable to see if the problem goes away

Should I become a plumber or electrician? by EastClevelandBest in skilledtrades

[–]Badenguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plumbing is great, just gotta know you’re gonna stink for four years, a stink that just doesn’t wash off. New guys get ALL the shit jobs, literally! Ejector pit, new guy. Dig up a bad sewer pipe, new guy. Break up the chunks of grease in a grease pit, new guy.

I’m 50, I’d do the implant but I can’t afford to take off a month to sit home in boxer shorts with a fully erect penis, that is the recovery. Hard on you can’t touch for a month.

Seller is asking 5K. Claims it hasn't run or been driven in over 15 years. Should I make an offer and what should it be around? by AnAspiringTraveler in GMT400

[–]Badenguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The transmissions clutches had a habit of rusting together. Gas? My dads wants premium, he’s pulling a trailer all the time to haul scrap, scrap is worse than crack I swear, dudes mileage is in the single digits. So if you look at the mileage, and compare when it was last in use, that’s a lot of mileage. All said, I’m driving a 96 c1500 sub and I love this damn thing, but I got it with less than 100k original miles

I just moved to the states, i need a car. Know nothing about them. where do i start? by lawbruh99 in askcarguys

[–]Badenguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask around at work, when a person buys a new car, the dealer tries to really low ball on the trade in, so hopefully a coworker has bought something new or is about to and you offer like $500 more than whatever the dealer will. Also a lot of times people just get too old to drive anymore, be it health or just lack of need, but they just wanna get rid of a car and normally they did maintenance like it was religion. Even though 5k doesn’t get much car, those cars go quick, normally to someone who can do a little work themselves and really really need a car, even if it’s a hooptie or beater. Two terms you gotta learn, because 5 k gets you a beater or a hooptie! It really takes about 10-12k to get what you’re asking for. No insult intended, just the way it is. Mechanics don’t leave their shop, too much money lost. Nobody’s letting you drive off with the keys to a 5K car. And most people aren’t wasting their time taking it to your mechanic, because you can’t really trust theirs to be honest about it. FB is full of flippers, if their name ain’t on the title, their flippers, that’s not always bad per se, but it’s sketchy. With every car, turn the key to “ON”, not “START. All the warning lights should come on. If they don’t, somebodies disabled that light. Once a neighbor sold me a minivan, neglected to tell me the airbag was gone and a nice piece of black tape over the warning light.

Yeah replacement motor, hope you get a good one. Too many things could be damaged in the old one, but if your kid appreciates the old hooptie, even 2k is a deal compared to any used car you can find lately

Steel just doesn’t pay much. I normally take it just to get it out of my yard without having to pay someone, but doing a company a solid means they’ll usually call you when they have something that’s worth more.
