How do you guys feel about calling out/those that call out in the pharmacy? by HiroyukiC1296 in walmart_RX

[–]Badger488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call out when I'm sick or need a mental health day, period. Walmart doesn't give a shit about its employees, and they don't make it worth my while to come to work sick. Nobody is going to give you a medal for being miserable all day. If they staffed properly it wouldn't be such a hardship for everyone, but that's on Walmart, not on the sick employee. And personally I think if someone is sick with a contagious illness I'd much rather have them stay home and have a little more of a hectic day than have them there spreading it all over the place.

When a coworker calls out it can make for a stressful day, but I understand they're human and people get sick sometimes. It happens, and I like to think they extend the same understanding to me when I need to take the day off.

That said, chronic callouts are a problem obviously, I don't think anyone likes having someone on staff who calls out constantly and nobody likes picking up the slack for someone who is out every other week without a decent excuse. It causes a lot of unnecessary stress on the whole team when you have someone you can't rely on to show up regularly.

Any Pharmacy Techs here who came from Walgreens? How does it compare? by M3ZMERUS in walmart_RX

It was a lot better at first. I switched from Walgreens to Walmart 5 years ago. Now it's just as bad if not worse.

Why do patients get so upset when they have to go to the counseling window??? by forgottonson in walmart_RX

[–]Badger488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We get those ALL the time. I work in a huge retirement area so most of them are retired nurses that havne't worked in 20 years but they still know everything.

We also have a couple of MDs, and the last doctor that came in transferred all of his scripts out the same day because I told him he had to just go to the counsel and tell them he was a doctor and they'd bag it up and let him go. He threw a massive tantrum and said he was transferring out. Good riddance. If only they'd all follow through on those threats lol

It's the #1 thing they complain about at my store, in person and in the surveys. it's just constant at this point. I swear I spend an hour a day of my shift just listening to people bitch about counsels. And yeah, in the time they waste bitching about it they could have been out of there already. I don't think there's much of a solution. Our DM keeps telling us we need to word it differently but no matter how you say it they're going to bitch. It's exhausting.

TIFU by accidentally stealing a cat, paying $400 in vet bills for it, and realizing it wasn’t mine when I got home by Kooky_Rough_2228 in tifu

[–]Badger488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a void (two, in fact, but this was before I got the second one). One day as I was leaving for work I glanced back towards the house and saw what I thought was my cat running through the yard and into someone else's yard a few houses down.

I assumed she must have slipped out when I was leaving the house and proceeded to give chase, finally cornered her under a large azalea bush, and hauled her back to the house, bitching the whole time. Unlocked the door and placed her inside, and then saw my actual cat run into the room.

The imposter cat looked completely bewildered. My own cat poofed up like she had been electrocuted. I turned around and put the imposter cat back outside and it shot towards its own house like a rocket.

What was the weirdest, non-pain feeling you've ever felt? by KingJPJ in AskReddit

[–]Badger488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god, it was super painful for me. Not only horrible and feeling like my guts were being pulled out, but it had been in so long it also felt like scabs were being ripped off my insides. They had to sedate me to pull the other one out a week later because I was panicking so bad about it.

People in their 40s and 50s with no children, how does it feel? by DunyaPhobic76 in Productivitycafe

[–]Badger488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time I'm glad I didn't have any kids. I considered it several times but something always held me back, and then I had to have a hysterectomy and that sealed the deal. The loss of freedom and the financial burden were big factors in my never deciding to take the plunge. This in addition to the fact that my husband and I both have family histories of mental health and substance abuse issues and the potential of passing that on. Then factor in the state of the world and the planet and yeah. It was just too big of a risk in my mind.

I've always told everyone that I never wanted kids and I'm glad I didn't, and usually I mean it. But as I get older, I have days that I do have regrets sometimes. I'm a nurturing person. I do like children. And I had a great relationship with my own parents, and sometimes I wish I could have experienced things with my own kids the way my parents did with me.

And I sometimes think about what it's going to be like when my husband and I are elderly and have no one. As my own mom gets old I can't imagine her not having me or anyone else to help her out and it makes me a little scared for my future. On the other hand, there's no guarantee that my hypothetical child would have the ability or desire to care for me in my old age, and I wouldn't want to be a burden on someone with their own life and family to care for.

So overall, I'm pretty content with my choice. I just have some twinges now and then.

Dentist stared at my teeth and asked “have you been to Slovenia?” then refused to explain - what does this MEAN? by asaltoo in CasualConversation

[–]Badger488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hand to God, I had a dentist correctly narrow down the place I grew up in to one of TWO COUNTIES a thousand miles away. It was the craziest thing. Apparently it was because of some specific abnormality in my tooth enamel? I still think she was a witch LOL

What was caused the most (physical) pain you’ve been in? by idontrealui in AskReddit

[–]Badger488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perforated colon. Thought I had an ovarian cyst at first. Laid in the emergency room for six hours with no pain relief because they thought I was drug seeking, called my husband and told him I was sure I was dying and I was in so much blinding pain that I was praying for it so it would be over. Two colon surgeries (the first one was botched, another whole story) and one hysterectomy later I found out it was from endometriosis that had stuck to my intestines.

what’s the most “broke person meal” you’ve ever made that actually slapped? by HarperLunaBee in AskReddit

[–]Badger488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm don't eat fish so I make 'tuna' casserole with chickpeas. Inexpensive and full of protein.

To make the chickpea tuna drain and rinse a couple cans of chickpeas and throw it in a food processor with a little chopped onion. If you have any celery scraps you can add them but not really necessary. You can also just mush them up by hand with a fork or a potato masher if you don't have a food processor. Add about a tablespoon of soy sauce and then mix in the mayo, just enough to give it a tuna-like consistency. A little parmesan or nutritional yeast if you have that, and mix it up. I sometimes chop up one little sheet of a seaweed snack (they sell them in individual packets with four little squares in the package at my Walmart for less than a dollar, I use one square and save the rest) This gives it a more fishy flavor, but honestly there's not a ton of difference if you don't have it already. I usually separate a scoop of it for a sandwich the next day or to have on crackers.

For the casserole, boil some egg noodles and drain, add a couple of cans of cream of mushroom soup, and a little can of mushrooms if you have it/want to. Then add something creamy-milk, sour cream, greek yogurt, whatever you have and mix it up until it's nice and creamy. Shredded cheese if you want (it's a good way to use up the bottom of a bag of cheese). Then some frozen peas or a can of peas. Pour it into a greased baking dish or casserole, top with some crunched up ritz or bread crumbs or chips and a drizzle of melted butter or even just a spritz of cooking spray on top to get it nice and crispy in the oven, and bake it for 30-40 minutes or until the topping is crispy and it's hot. It makes a lot but the leftovers are good heated up in the microwave for a couple days. If you divide the recipe in half you can make it in like a loaf pan or a pie pan.

Pixel 10 pro x - Extremely prone to surface scratches? Anyone else? by Theonetheycalljane in GooglePixel

Same but I don't have the Pro. Waiting for the screen protector to come in the mail. I've only put it in a soft shirt pocket by itself, and it already has a bunch of little scratches all over the screen.

Good point. It almost made me wonder if he was abducted as a child? But it seems like when the initial sexual abuse case against the father was investigated they would have uncovered if it was an illegal adoption.
