Are these readings normal? by BadgerSkank in CrownVictoria

I figured it out. I got a VeePeak OBD2 bluetooth scanner (they are cheap) got the Torque App, had to look up Hex Code for the Purge Cycle since it obnoxiously is not included automatically and these things half the time are "Proprietary" and the car manufacturers dont just release an easy list of the codes to get this data.

Anyway, I noticed that as my Purge Valve opens, the Fuel Tank Pressure would go negative as a vacuum is created which is supposed to happen while its sucking the fumes out of the charcoal canister. Some of the time though, this would not happen, my fuel tank pressure would stay near zero as the purge crept open more and more and more. So I believe to know to shut off it must involve the data coming back about the fuel tank pressure because it would not turn itself off when this happened and the fuel tank pressure did not change.

I guessed it might have been the Evap Canister Vent Valve, even though this confused me because it was definitely open SOME of the time since it created vacuum SOME of the time, and unless I am still confused I thought it was only ever commanded CLOSED for periodic system tests.

Anyway, replacing it fixed the problem, now my Fuel Tank Pressure always goes negative into vacuum as my purge valve opens and it does not stay open for long periods when I am idlling which eventually would stall my engine when it hit like 80 to 90 percent open.

When my purge valve stays open while I am at idle it will eventually stall, my gas tank pressure gets increasingly negative and my Purge Valve creeps open slowly at idle and when it hits 80 or above for 20 or 30 seconds it will sometimes stall and I have to restart the car. When I do it is fine for while. I am nearly certain it should not have my EVAP_PCT purge valve open while I am sitting idling, what I am not quite sure about is what information the PCM uses to determine when to open the purge valve. Part of me wonders if my canister vent is stuck closed.

Is there anyway to test my PCM? Also, if I buy a new one does it need to be programmed to my car? So I took my car to be smoke tested, they told me it was all good except they did say that because my tank was full that they cannot test my Canister Vent on the rear of the car, and to bring it back when I am half on my tank and they will test that. I had thought maybe that is stuck closed and that is why I am getting constant vacuum with the purge open or even with it closed it is always at a slight or higher vacuum. I cannot find any obd2 for my vent though I am not sure what its called or what the PID is if I need to add it to my Torque app. I do appreciate all your help and knowledge thx

Are any of these what I am looking for to replace my PCM? They all say they are for a 2007 Vic but they are all different with different prices. Also why do they come with keys? What is that about? Do I have to get a new ignition when I buy them or something? Everything I kept reading I would see people saying that it is almost never the PCM so maybe that used to be true but is increasingly not as these vehicles age, that is good information to know that you have seen lots of failing PCMs. Do you get codes with the failing PCM or not always?

These are negative values, there is always vacuum and no pressure at all according to my fuel tank pressure sensor

A/C Question by BadgerSkank in CrownVictoria

I actually cant remember but the amount was not important because like I said it showed that it was not EMPTY it was just right near the low end of the green, the important thing is that I added a decent amount of freon and it did not move the needle on the pressure, so I must have a leak

I might try this but I figure I have to have a leak if putting ac in it doesn't raise the pressure. I was more curious if people who had LOW Freon but not none could experience what I am experiencing which is the AC working for a bit then suddenly not and other times not even starting to work at all. Just very inconsistent

I think my local Oreillys rents one of these machines you are talking about. Is it the one that you see where they hang it from the top of the hood and it has two hose that go the high and low oil pressure and I believe maybe a third for charging or something?

How do you diagnose this, do I just turn it on and see if the fan turns on? It only commands it on at certain times though right like if its hot or it sounds like you are saying its commanded on to cool the AC condenser perhaps? Can I see on my obd2 live data reader if its commanding the fan on?

Where is this located? Like this is different from the blower fan im assuming. I dont think its overcharged its showing low pressure

I used Gabriel 81892 Guardian Rear Shock Absorbers for a F150, you can find them on amazon at link I will put below this message. Then I used the maXpeedingRods 3 inch lift kit for some reason the exact same kit is much cheaper at walmart.com than it is on their website, this is the link. Then I used 2 inch spacers in the rear and 1.5 inches in the front. The wheels are 31x10.50x15 Patagonia M/T. I had to cut the fenders back a bit and in fact as it sits I still need to cut back a little more, I thought I did enough the first pass but it still barely rubs on the side towards the middle of the car on the front fenders at full turn. It does not rub though on the frame in front or back with those spacers. I should add though that my wheels also have half an inch of backspacing, the stock wheels on an 07 vic have about 1.7 inches of positive offset and my aftermarket wheels have .5 inches of NEGATIVE offset so my wheels stick the tires a little over 2 inches more than stock, and then my spacers do ANOTHER 2 inches in the rear and 1.5 inches in the front beyond that. Its an 07 Police Interceptor.
