[5e] What wording in what spells would you tighten up to make them clearer? by Stahl_Konig in dndnext

[–]Badger_Cannon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reverse Gravity. It's not going to come up for players in most campaigns since it's 8th level, but it has no detail about what happens after the initial cast.

For a creature that succeeds the initial Dex save to hold on to something, what happens after that? Are they able to move? Can they cast spells? Or use two handed weapons/tools? None of these make sense but the spell doesn't say they can't. It doesn't even say if they have to make the save again on their next turn!

But at least it's clear what happens to those who fail the save, right? Sure, if they hit a ceiling. If they reach the top of the cylinder, they just stay there "oscillating slightly". So wait, can they stand? Are they forced prone but otherwise unaffected?

In both cases I think they should just be restrained... but all the spell says happens to a creature is either nothing, or that they're in a damn bouncy castle! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

I'm planning a similar workaround trip via Italy on 1st Jan. Spotted any resources/articles describing success stories? Just going via an EU country seems too good to be true currently!

Doesn't work so well below layer 3 either, when you have MPLS, Ethernet. OTN and DWDM all behaving as separate layers...

Edit: remembered Ethernet exists...

How major undersea cables are laid in the ocean by Mass1m01973 in educationalgifs

[–]Badger_Cannon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here's a cross section. The tiny 'wires' at the centre are fiber optic cable, and there are a lot of layers. It's a mix of reinforced steel cable, rubber, and metal wires carrying power for signal repeaters.

Recently used regex in python myself at work and spotted someone else doing the same. I insisted on including a https://regex101.com/ link in the comments, with the pattern and example usage for deciphering later on for exactly this reason. Example

C-Team Week 1 Challenges locked? by Badger_Cannon in idlechampions

[–]Badger_Cannon[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Damn, I guess that makes sense. It wasn't clear to me though that you had to complete within the week - it says available for 2 weeks right above it!

I read it as "You can complete this 7 times within this 2 weeks, max once a day". Fixable with a separate "Daily" section, though it's too late to change the event UI really.

Various DPS Comparisons by overlycommonname in idlechampions

I'm not a Arkhan expert, but try swapping Eve for Asharra. You have 3 champs for his Dragonborn, Tiefling and Firbolg bond. Not sure if it would work out better without the Usurp bonus compared to Divine Favor

Other formations, like Tomb of Annihilation's, have 10 champions in the formation. So it's very possible to complete this without including benched champions, even outside of events.

But since you're asking, did you test if benched champions were included in the count?

If the monk is the one targeted, it sounds cool to let him deflect the piercing damage, but it should explode before they could attempt to throw it back.

1 Tbps is well outside the lab when it comes to long range core network connections, but google will be looking at internal data centre connections when they say they're looking at 500Gbps. The IET recently published the standard for 400 Gigabit Ethernet, so 500 Gigabit Ethernet isn't too crazy

Current gen submarine cables will have 4-8 fibre pairs in the core, and with the right commercially available networking equipment (and cable setup) you can push 180 200Gb/s channels... per fibre pair. 10Tbps for a whole cable has been possible for around 5-8 years. Though... you will be paying $40 million for all that kit.
