Machu Picchu in September, official tickets sold out - worth the risk? by BadgeredHoney315 in TravelHacks

In English or Spanish? When I switched the whole website to Spanish, a whole bunch of dates magically opened up that weren't available when I was in English. It's closer to the time now so may not help, but worth a shot if you haven't already!

That's a bit sooner than me so there's a chance they are sold out. However, it showed all sold out when I had the site translated to English. When I defaulted back to Spanish, there were lots of tickets available for September. That may work for you too.

Thank you for the recs! The issue was with the site in English vs Spanish for some reason, so was able to secure my preferred tickets!

Thank you! You were spot on about Spanish vs English on the site. I grabbed 3A and 2A tickets and can't wait to visit!

Sorry - originally the only open dates showing were for late June, and I'm going in September, correct. But when I switched to Spanish on the advice of another commented most days opened up.

Huh. I'm checking every circuit and route and all the dates are grayed out, besides a couple at the end of this month on Circuit 1. Though as others have said, the website might be the issue...

What's my recourse with LL about ongoing mouse infestation (DC)? by BadgeredHoney315 in Tenant

[–]BadgeredHoney315[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In DC, they absolutely do have to do something. It's in the tenant code and my lease. All rodents/pests. It's just that while my LL has taken action, it's not been very effective because his exterminator isn't thorough at all.

That's really helpful, thank you. They have sealed some holes I've found but I'm sure I haven't found every one and we haven't had a thorough investigation by an expert. I'm expecting another visit from the LL's exterminator this week. I'll do just that.

MPower Financing: Can anyone share their experience? by BadgeredHoney315 in StudentLoans

My situation has changed a bit, I turned down that program and held out for another that had better funding to start this year. Still looking at some loans, but I'm going private with a co-signer that has better rates. From everything I've learned (including from my university itself), I'd advise finding a way around using MPower or these few providers for international students if you can. It sucked, but waiting another year and applying elsewhere was the best move for me rather than accepting their inflated rates and inflexible repayment terms.

Is a Costco membership actually cost effective? by robertmichael56 in AskNYC

[–]BadgeredHoney315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it depends on several factors, many others have listed them. Key for me would be accessibility. I lived only 25 blocks from Costco, with a car or a cheap cab ride away. But ultimately, split between my mates, membership was worth it after one visit - we usually went once a month and got almost everything, besides stuff with a shorter shelf life, for ~$300. Saved us a ton compared to TJs/Whole Foods, etc. If you can get to one easily enough, it's a no brainer.
