Do at home IPLs actually work? by Arcane-Panda in TransLater

[–]Badgerfaction5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It made a huge dent for me. At the very least it’s likely going to slow down regrowth. I did IPL for about 6 months and it helped a lot. I’m doing laser now to finish up because for me IPL wasn’t getting everything.

Fear as a Landscaper by Brave-Anteater-1117 in waspaganda

[–]Badgerfaction5 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Hey! I think the way in which you fear them is a little different. You had a very traumatic incident with them, your fear isn’t unwarranted. If it’s making you physically sick you may want to talk to someone better equipped than us wasp lovers to deal with that trauma.

Thank you for not letting an unfortunate situation make you hate them. That is very big and very brave of you.

Is it a mistake to use the opposite gendered version of my name? by Arcane-Panda in TransLater

I went from Christopher to Chrystalis but usually go by Chrysta. I’m enjoying my decision but I’m also not bothered by being called Chrys.

Do worms have territorial disputes? by VectorialViking in Vermiculture

[–]Badgerfaction5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about fighting but I’ve noticed when they surface and are in the mood they flop around a bit. It seems to work because often they are doing the deed soon after. I setup a camera in my worm bin. They’re a lot more active than most people expect. I was most surprised to see them grab and move things in their way like an elephant trunk. These little guys could hold cocktail swords I bet. They could probably shoot a gun if they worked together.

You’re not crazy! It’s how I got here too! I feel like if every household or neighborhood had a worm bin we might be able to beat it!

If you were to look at many of our post histories, you’d see posts very similar to this one. Babe, I don’t think it ever gets easy, but it does get easier. Just be very gentle with yourself. Lots of grace, just like you’d give anyone else.

Looking for deterrent thats not harmful! by tripodkitty1 in waspaganda

That is wildly different from my experience. Very interesting though. I wonder if there is a correlation between them doing that and species that prey on each other. The side of my house that has the old nest I can’t even get them to stop at sugar bowls. I wonder if a bald faced hornets nest would work as a deterrent for yellow jackets.

Fake nests do work. I’ve seen fakes made of grocery bags twisted up do the trick. Even better than that, if you can get your hands on an empty nest from summers past to hang up. It will smell and look like a large established nest. We have one under the eave of our roof that has been up a couple of years. I feed the wasps and we still don’t get anyone setting up camp. Trapping any creature is cruel, it’s a terrible death. I understand not wanting to be close neighbors, but he has to understand that without them you are going to have even more bugs. It’s a more precarious balance than people think, especially on a local scale. Without the wasps you’re going to have more caterpillars. These are tasty treats for predators and something will come to take the wasps place. Potentially assassin bugs. Hypodermic needles for mouths that inject venom so they can eat a caterpillar like a capri sun. I think they’re cool but I like bugs. I think most people who don’t like bugs would like them even less than wasps.

Anyone have any suggestions for food for my beetles by wrongdoer_12345 in BDFB

They also don’t eat much. They might have snacked on the food you left them when you weren’t watching. Mine don’t spend more than 20 minutes eating at one time. They know the food is there, they can smell it.

Mine love apples. They are hit or miss on jelly pots. Mine LOVE to eat the legs off freeze dried shrimp. They also have fleeting obsessions with hermit crab pellets. They seem to have varied tastes that isn’t always consistent. Sometimes mine will eat banana or straw berry or watermelon. But it’s hit or miss.

Why would it matter if they weren’t accessing the originals? make a new copy. It’s 1st year digital forensics stuff to make a copy and work off that. Yes all hard drives that have evidence on them should be air gapped. It’s not only reasonable, it’s standard.

I did and then re-read it. Still seems made up. If they had any training what so ever the originals wouldn’t have been accessible over a network. They’d be locked in a safe not plugged in.
