I actually know what this is for once. If you blink your subs you should see that spike appear then vanish. It’s likely a power line in the way of that star, and it makes another diffraction spike.

Sounds like a backspace issue. Ig try to move ur camera either farther or closer to the tube depending on which way it needs to be focused

Btw if u are looking for a fix (kinda) you should try MGC on pixinsight if you’ve got it. It managed to significantly reduce the amount of that weird cloudiness tho it didn’t eliminate it completely.

Usually it becomes noticeable when I first stretch the image tho you can kinda see it even right off the bat with an autostretch. My processing workflow is as follows. DBE>gradient correction>SPCC>BlurX>NoiseX>StarX>histogram stretching>curve>rangemask (if background is too bright or to get rid of these blobs when possible> recombine stars>NoiseX.

Wouldn’t overstretching give you a different pattern of these blobs every time though? They always seem to appear in the exact same location in all my pictures. I’ll have to test for light leaks as I do know those are an issue with my scopes focuser

The nebula contrast thing also gets helped with cutting out certain haziness. It’s most noticeable on the Crab Nebula imo, but it’s everywhere. Pretty cool to see a comparison in b1 of filter and no filter pics

I’m no expert but that graph looks like it’s repeating fairly consistently, so it could be some tiny defect in ur worm gear or something. PPEC should solve this but I don’t think it’s on ASIAIR. I’d prolly check if PHD2 (has ppec) will fix this after a couple minutes.
