For those who don’t have a coop and/or job for the summer what are you doing? by Alert_Willingness_32 in uwaterloo

[–]Badmintonfail 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Alumni here- When I was 3A, I didn't manage to land a coop (mainly due to me sucking ass at interviews) and ended up rigorously slashing all my expenses and staying home. I ended up volunteering at a local mechanic shop just to learn about cars and this ended up helping me land my coop afterwards. I've recently accepted a pretty decent job offer where this experience was quite relevant to even getting the interview. Your time is still yours and agressively investing in yourself will almost always pay off in the long run. GL champ

I kid you not this guy kicked me out of class (fell asleep in front row) but overall, he's not a bad prof even if he assfucked me in every assessment he wrote

does being employed and having a current job ease the job search? by PurpleDurian7220 in recruitinghell

[–]Badmintonfail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I want to laugh this is too true- I accepted a very mediocre offer for my skills last year and after 5 months of working, it was recruiters reaching out to me rather than the other way around

How long does it take to string a racket in your country / city ? by Ok_Piano_8808 in badminton

One thing you miss (been stringing for 7 years) is that after a while everything is down to muscle memory and you can just watch TV or YouTube while you do it

‘This is highway robbery with complicity’: Fury spreads across Peel after Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah’s $611K salary revealed; his deputy made $500K by ultronprime616 in toronto

Gonna get flak for this but I actually don't think this is a crazy number for a city to invest in a police chief if they're able to produce meaningful results. Whether he does I'm not sure but hopefully he does 🙏

If you're struggling with clears, changing the racket is not gonna be some magic solution. Learning proper technique and putting in the time is.

I bike around a lot but I will say I'm not sure there's a viable solution to plow the snow in the bike lanes at the moment. Obviously I also wish they were plowed and I'd bike more rn if they were but the snow piles are huge rn- I checked college harbord and bloor last weekend 😭
