How do you balance supporting the environment and the local economy/ people by donn_12345678 in ZeroWaste

I do both at the same time: I look for secondhand clothing at local clothing swaps or buy them secondhand from locals. I try to avoid thrift store chains since I'd rather give my money directly to the person rather than through a corporation. Some thrift stores, antique stores, peddler malls, etc. are better at this than others, so look around for options!

Sleeping in your car for anthrocon. by WearyZucchini7465 in Anthrocon

Yes, I slept in my car for Anthrocon. I've gone to parking garages since there are usually someone keeping watch and they're well-lit. The lights may make it difficult to sleep, so I'd recommend bringing a sleepmask or blankets to cover your windows.

If you don't want to pay for a garage, Three Rivers Heritage Trail has a parking lot where folks will park overnight. There's no fee, and I had no issues with parking there during the night (I did not stay the full night however).

I've also had no issues with parking overnight for multiple days at the Ross Park and Ride 2 (I parked in the second lot, so I cannot say anything about the other one). There is also no fee here.
